“Tiny Cafe for coffee, I got a lilikoi frosty which was delicious!Did not feel appealed to fresh baked goods unless they were already wrapped .They have a shop for more of their items which is right next to them which was cool to look through, that side of the shopped seemed a bit more welcoming.Li hing mui gummy bears are so soft !A tad pricy but so good.Parking: There's maybe 3-4 street parking spots directly infront of establishment, otherwise there's other parking around!”
“Wonderful little spot on the side of the highway. The tacos I got were amazing, they had fantastic brewed ice tea, and the fish and chips were great too. 100% recommend this place if you find yourself at the top of the ”
“Recently moved to Kapaau and had Chaba's tonight (Saturday) for the first time. We ordered pineapple fried rice with chicken and pad thai with pork along with some pork dumplings. Everything was absolutely delicious. It's a small certified kitchen staffed only by Chaba herself, so if she's busy with orders there may be a little bit of a wait, but it's well worth it! Meeting Chaba was an absolute delight, she's so sweet! We look forward to continuing to support her small business.”
“Just bought the peach pie from longs drug store last night wow the best pie I ever had no joke can't believe how good this pie is blue ribbons all the way. nobody can beat it.and I know my stuff about pastry. I know out standing when I taste it. Awesome will visit when I come to the big island. It's a must let everyone know about this place. Wow.”
“This is a new place, about 1 year old. A highlight is the delightful waiter/cashier who is smiles, positive vibes, and sets a nice ambiance. The place seems to be built in an old filling station building, but the dining area is new, bright, airy and sparkling clean - 6 tables I believe. The menu list is enormous. The formula (from several samples) is a very generous portion of a protein, such as pieces of fried chicken, or fish, served in a styrofoam basket (a lot of business is takeout) with several large scoops of white rice and/or macaroni salad. Neither of us could finish our servings. I found it a little disconcerting that the meal was so simple, they don't seem to have things that are more complex such as sauces. Don't look for subtlety, just what is says, good quality and tasty. I advise ordering several items and sharing them rather than several orders of the same thing. Now for the fine print. There is one unisex restroom. To get there, you go out the front door and around right into an unremodeled garage area which looks somewhat threatening compared to the restaurant interior. There is a minimal size toilet "room". The good new is, it is in excellent condition and very clean. There is no sink in the toilet room. Going out from the toilet you turn right for another 10 feet to find an industrial style sink, perfectly fine with soap. I did not find a way to dry my hands, but maybe I missed it. If you are going to be offended by the toilet option, best go elsewhere. My rating is for the food, not the washroom. (One more point - "barbecued" here seems to mean cooked over a fire, but does not mean barbecue sauce.)”
“It's been awhile since I've gone to an L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, so needless to say, I was pretty stoked to get a meal. The restaurant is hard to miss, as it's painted in bright, tropical colors; but that definitely fits the vibe I assume they're going for. There's lots of outdoor seating on the deck and it was easy to find a good spot in the corner that overlooks the main drag. As for the most important part, the food, it didn't disappoint. For a little over $12 (I ordered brown rice instead of white, so I was charged 50 cents more), I got a pretty serious heap of BBQ chicken, salad, and the aforementioned rice. All of it was fresh and delicious, and because of the quantity, I had to take some of it home (I don't usually do that). The only issue was that the lady that originally took our order had a difficult time understanding what we wanted, but that's not a deal breaker because, whom I assume was the manager, stepped in and got our order punched in correctly. Overall, L&L Hawaiian Barbecue is an incredible bang for your buck, so don't hesitate to pay them a visit if you are ever in town.”
“Hands down best pizza I may have ever had in my life. I got the Maya's Mac and Cheese and wish I was staying another day to order more! Service and team are top notch and beers are frosty cold! Wifey got the salad and loved it but was caught stealing pieces of my pizza!”
“Lovely smoothies and snacks. Great fuel for the next adventure! One of many spots that make this little town worth the drive. You won’t be disappointed. Arrive by noon to ensure you’ll find a parking spot. There’s some great outdoor seating options and the staff is extremely bubbly and welcoming. Offerings rotate seasonally and it’s definitely worth a quick stop!”
“The pizza is great and the crew is always in a good mood and willing to take care of the customers! This is our go-to on a Sunday and Monday when no one else in town is open!”
“Second time visiting, and vow never to miss it on future visits to the Big Island. Tonight, we all thoroughly enjoyed our steak, pasta dish and Kohala salad with shrimp - not to mention delicious starters, the chicken pot stickers, calamari, lili koi margarita and cheesecakes. Plus the service and ambiance were everything we were looking for, and we especially love the charming owner.”
“Traver is always the best hes stop by always anf asking us if we need anything. When hes not around i keep asking my co worker wheres traver? Because of hes energy and kind. Thanks traver!”
“Such a quant restaurant. Every meal was delicious, especially the enchiladas! Food came out quickly and the staff was nice. It was a cute little restaurant and the cat wandering around was an added bonus. A great food stop if you're in town!”

“This place is amazing!! We were super bummed after driving an hour to hike Pololu Valley, to find that it was closed for cleaning. We stopped here on our drive back for lunch. It made the trip so worth it. Just what we needed after a huge disappointment. The poke nachos, fruit plate, chicken hekka, baked papaya, homemade brownies and banana bread were all mouth watering delicious. The service was phenomenal and the live music played in such a beautiful setting while eating was an added bonus. Thanks for lifting our spirits!”
