“After a long awaited visit I was able to stop by Saucy Mama's for a delicious homemade lava cake. The service was superb and the food was very tasty. I am a sticker for food presentation as well and they did this excellently as well. I ate the fresh flowers garnished on the top of my soup and dessert while sipping my smoothie. Go! you won't regret it.”
“If you’re spontaneous- try the “Dream” cold brew. It was a dream and so enjoyable. I also found the avocado toast with egg added to be thoroughly delicious. Highly recommend. Wonderful customer service and ambience.”
“We had the musubi, turnover and 4 flavors of the mochi donuts, SO SO GOOD! If you are a fan of baked goods (or donuts) this is a must-stop. We grabbed coffee next door too!”
“This is a must stop for coffee lovers. I'm a big coffee connoisseur, always seeking out the best coffee, having different coffee shipped to me from around the world. But the coffee I got here, from Ka au was one of the best coffees I've ever had! Mary who runs place is awesome and knows her stuff.”
“Best pizza we've come across, it's build your own style or a few specials. Wings and fries are good, too. Even a busy weekend was less than 30 mins until ready.”
“So delicious!! We were excited to stop here after a day at Volcano National Park based on the prior reviews, and it did not disappoint! It was wet and rainy, and we ate in our car (hence, awesome people so good atmosphere), and it was still worth it! Friendly staff and just really yummy food!”
“This is the perfect place to stop by after visiting the volcano national park. The woman who takes your order is very sweet and will explain what they have. Highly recommend!”
“Popped into this cafe and was warmly greeted by a friendly employee. Several customers were already lined up and it didn’t take long for others to join us. No pressure but two girls got our orders quickly and my chai was delicious. The pastries looked super tempting and sit down customers had only positive comments. Although small it is quite charming and welcoming. Coming back soon.Parking: A pick up spot is located directly in front of the cafeKid-friendliness: There are options for kids so parents need no worry.”
“The cinnamon rolls are a huge hit in my house! the muffins are always so moist and yummy. So great to have a specialty bakery here. The owner is so friendly and they are a great small business to support!”
“Wife and I recently discovered this food truck via “happy cows” website for vegan/vegetarian food. Maybe one of the best values on the Big Island! Food is made to order - so you can get spicy versus typical “sweet” here. Portion sizes are very generous. All very fresh ingredients. My pad thai (choice of meats or tofu) was great. Enjoy!”
“The food at the cafe was delicious. The owner was extremely friendly. Very interesting art shop, to browse and shop from local artistans. Definitely recommend lunch here!!;”
“The ladies are SO friendly and the food is so fresh!! I thought the pad Thai was amazing and then I tried the pumpkin curry!!! By far the best Thai food I've ever had and that goes for everything I ordered. Both dishes I can eat as two meals and the avocado rolls are the perfect appetizer. Could not recommend more and wish I could eat this for every meal!!”
“Just moved from Seattle and missed cheese steaks and gyros. I am so glad we tried this spot out. I know where to go when I'm having a craving. I do need to also try out the pastrami sandwich. Ooh and the fries, are nice and crispy.”
“The food was great. The music was a bit loud for my taste and a hindrance when trying to talk across the table. Also, we tried to sit outside away from the music and were told we must be a party of 4 or more, which we weren't.Parking: Restaurant located in a shopping center so there was plenty of free parking.”
“Best burgers for miles - several varieties to choose from and real onion rings! It is a counter, so all food is to-go. And a bonus: Great little tortilla factory in back to get fresh tortillas (not the same business)”
“Frank foods is dedicated to providing top quality meats and customer service. Customize your list or they offer meat packages (feed one or an entire ohana).Delivery is also available.”
“Best wine, loved that it's farm to table . I was really impressed when asked what Ranch did there beef come , and our waitress had the name of ranch owner ? chicken katsu is to die for. My entire family was Impressed food is definitely delicious ?. Been there 5-6 times so far. Mahalo white guava see you soon. 5-7 ”
“Super friendly staff and a very welcoming atmosphere. If you’re looking for a place to have a casual dinner, or just read a book at the bar, Kaleos has the best vibes. This has become my 2-3 times a week place to just exist around people as I housesit for my dad on the rural part of the island. Food is good, prices are right, and the bartenders are super friendly. Also if you’re a dessert person, definitely try the lilikoi cheesecake.”
“Incredible. Poke and chicken katsu couldn't be beat. They had an awesome spicy garlicky sauce that was excellent as well. Service was fast and friendly. Approachable menu as well with other options!”
“If you are on your way to Volcano National Park and want a bite to eat before heading in or something to take with you while there then you'll definitely want to stop here. We got the tuna and turkey sandwiches. Not only did they taste good but they were stuffed to the brim! My husband and I shared one & the kids shared the other. That was plenty, plus some chips, for all of us. We wished we were closer to be able to come back and try more.”
“Tacos are pretty good, but it's very slow. Last time we waited for nearly an hour (55 minutes) to the point that when I approached to see what was going on they tried to take my order. EDIT: THEY TEACHED OUT AND GAVE ME A REFUND. Obviously they care about their customers. I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and raise the rating until next time.”
“Really great tasty takeaway food. Poke is super fresh and all three varieties really good! Ahi plate outstanding Service is Hawaii good. Be aware they have many phone orders so you might wait a little No ambiance because food truck nowhere to sit”
“5 well deserved stars. I came in right before close and was met with happy, friendly, and helpful employees. The menu was simple and clear, which is appreciated. $12 for single, $17 for double, or $22 for triple. All options for Poke and sides are on display.Kapua was the one who helped me. She noticed I was having a hard time choosing, and offered samples. I might have got lucky, but she let me split my order. So, I got the double, but got to split two sides, and four smaller portions of Poke.I got the house spicy mayo, Hawaiian ahi, Kalbi ahi and the aku Hawaiian. I got the Ula mash and the mac-n-cheese for sides. Everything was great. The double was big enough for two, but on a good day, I could eat it all myself. Now for the embarrassing part. As soon as I got to the car, it was devoured by everyone. This was supposed to be a pre-dinner snack, but after a long day at the beach........no photos were taken in its pristine glory. We come out to visit family every few months, and my goal is to try new places each time. I'm going to have to make another stop at Ellie Girl Poke this trip.I took a photo of the plate after it had been partially ravaged, but it doesn't do the shop justice, so I'll have to go back and get a photo of a new plate.Edit: I DID go back the next day, and it was even better the second time. They had a couple more flavors out that weren't out the first time.”
“Great food, especially the pineapple curry, loved it! A minor hiccup occurred the day of our visit and the power was down, so wasn't able to enjoy the food at the restaurant and had to take away”
“Awesome drive in walk up window service style food. The best French fries around and tasty burgers. They have local favorites as well including breakfast. Outside dining only or food to go. Popular with the early morning blue collar workers and always seems busy for breakfast and lunch. We went before the lunch crowd showed up so service was pretty quick. It was a little more expensive than I would have expected. Two burgers, 2 fries, and 2 sodas was around $35. However, I will definitely be back and look forward to trying their Loco moco next time.”
“Great variety of food, hot and ready no wait. Our go to stop for breakfast and a bento for lunch on a work day. Portions are good, price is reasonable. If your from Oahu and like Marian's fish tempura, Hiro's is better. If you need catering pans, this is our go to place. chicken katsu, fish tempura and nori chicken. You need small to large bentos for your kids sports teams, this is the place to go.”
“They were very patient with my cake order and they were aware about the sizes of the cakes for the amount of people to serve. It does not have to be 3 weeks in advance to order. Just a week or less.”
“I am a new resident to Hawaii and have enjoyed dining at Ning’s since my arrival. Having traveled to Thailand ?? on a few occasions, I know the authentic taste of Thai food - sour, salty, sweet and spicy. Ning’s captures these qualities and more with their Bohemian flair, blending in perfectly on the main strip in old town Pahoa. Try their amazing generous proportion of “som tum” / spicy green papaya salad. Follow it up with the spicy Thai sweet basil seafood stir fry… you will then have experienced a perfect duo that can best be experienced on the streets of Bangkok. The restaurant hours are 11am to 9pm MON thru SAT. Please note, SUN hours are 5pm to 9pm. ENJOY!”
