“The food ( past and pizza) is delish. Always a must when we visit Kaui. Our male waiter was not friendly or attentive but the food was great. We then sat at the bar after dinner and the female bartender as well as the blonde guy behind the bar made us feel very welcomed, were very upbeat, and were the ones who made our visit “

“Simple grill with drinks. A good stop if you are walking around Princeville or coming back from the beach or a round of golf. We had the half papaya and a couple of drinks. Nice folks, you need to be a bit patient with the service at times, they get busy.“

Thank God we found this restaurant .. we had planned to go to another restaurant but it was closed and decided to go to Chicken in a barrel .. this was one of our top favorite restaurants in Kauai. Exquisite, flavorful, cook to perfection chicken. Rice tasted like it didn’t have any salt in it but add some soy sauce to that baby and you’re going to want another service of rice! Divine ?? and with the chickens, be careful and don’t give food to them.. they are going to eat your food in the second you’re not looking at it! It’s really funny until happens to you. We saw a couple of tables where people leave their food unattended and the chickens were on top of their table eating everything LOL! So just keep an eye for them and don’t leave your food unattended if you’re eating at the restaurant.“

“Had a large party eat here recently. All of the food and drinks were exceptional especially the risotto appetizer and the macadamia nut mahi. Staff was very nice and had great suggestions. Will definitely be going back and recommending to others“

“We had the most delicious lunch here. Kauian salad and the Hanalei Chicken sandwich were amazing. The inhouse sauces were fantastic and it was a great choice for our lunch stop after visiting the North Shore beaches. The girl taking our order was patient and pleasant. We highly recommend this food truck.“

“Overall we enjoyed our time at Kalypso! We stopped in for a drink at the bar. The Mai Tais were good, and the atmosphere was fun and lively. We did not order food but it looked good. I have to give it 4 stars because the bar manager (I believe is what she called herself) was negative and seemed to treat her employees poorly. She seemed rude and complained that “a manager should not be having to make drinks” right in front of everyone sitting at the bar. Very unprofessional, complaining, and speaking rudely to her employees while we were sitting two feet from her the entire time. The gentleman serving drinks at the bar however was VERY kind! He was attentive, conversing with people, and working quickly to serve everyone with a smile.“

Not for beginners, but stick at it for your reward!We were fortunate to find a spot and get a table in the GourmetSadly I was driving so no beer for me. Lemonade was refreshing and tasted home made.Delicious choice of sandwiches. I went for the local version of a Reuben, and it was really good ?Catch of the day was Marlin. Battered as fish and chips. Again very good. Chips (or fries here) were crispy and tasty.Highly recommended.As for the parking spot : may the odds be forever in your favour ?“

“This was our favorite restaurant in Kauai due to the excellent food, service, and breathtaking views. We stayed at Hanalei Colony Resort and ended up eating here multiple times because the food was better than what we had when venturing in town to Hanalei Bay. I can't express how amazing the service was. You truly felt like the staff cared about your experience.Opakapaka Grill and Bar is the only oceanfront restaurant in Hanalei and it won't disappoint. We had the poke nachos, fish and chips, burger, and tried multiple drinks over the days. Everything was top notch.We were even there one night that they had local music that was excellent. Truly a North Shore Kauai experience.You MUST give this oceanfront restaurant a try when in town. It will have you making a second (or third) trip back.“
