During our visit on the Big Island, we often would stop by the Gypsea Gelato shop for one or two of their delicious gelatos. The two employees , Grace & Kai offered wonderful suggestions so we always had wonderful desserts after dining at one of the restaurants at the King’s Mall.

It's a tiny store with room for a few people. Service was poor and the sizes are sneaky. The cups aren't as deep as they look because the bottom of the cups are nearly in the middle of the cup. The taste isn't very good either. I guess if you're a fan of gelato, and if there's zero line, it could be cool.

Pretty delicious gelato, they got definitely a good amount of size options and flavors. I think if I understood it right, you can only have two different flavors per cup, no matter what size, so that's a bummer if you get the large or extra large. I would probably suggest medium for two flavors and the fruity flavors are extra delicious.

Looooooved the oreo flavor. Around $5 for a mini. I did really appreciate that they have all the cups laid out on the counter with some fake gelato in it so you know the approximate amount you’ll get…. but it’s a little hard to see how shallow the cup might be. Especially for a mini! The top of the dark shaded area in this picture is the actual bottom of the cup. So around a third of the cup is not actually cup. Hit bottom a lot sooner than I expected.

We were ready for a treat and drove down from Waimea. We ordered the regular size cone - which was 2 scoops/2 flavors. The cost was $12.We have three complaints. 1. We didn't get full scoops! We almost had finished eating the cones before we had finished paying.2. The sales clerks couldn't help us access the loyalty program.3. The credit card process offers a minimum of 18% tip (yes we could do the custom tip option). We chose no tip. They are just doing their job and we didn't receive any extra service. The scoops were little. Maybe I am just tip weary but I feel we should get good service in order to justify a tip.We will wait in line for OBISIC next time or go to Tropical Dreams in Waimea.
So good! I love this place! Got the mauka gelato. It was great! Definitely recommend on a hot day!

I would have taken a photo but I ate it before I could get to the picture taking, partly because it melted quickly, partly because it was that good. I got a half and half Kona coffee and Maura Trail, then proceeded straight to eating/enjoying it. Go with small or mini; you don’t really need more than that to get the flavors. My wife got a small of coconut and chocolate and it tasted like a Mounds bar. Really good stuff.
