I'm so sad this store already closed its doors. I didn't know about this store until I got Kawara senbei as a gift. Kawara senbei is one of my favorite Japanese snacks and they taste soooo good. I should have known about this store a long time ago so I could have enjoyed it a little longer. But thank you for providing great snacks on the island for 101 years. This was amazingly yummy.

Ishiharaya, over 101 years of business in Hawaii. Now that you have closed your doors and will cease operations at the end of this month (only selling through other retailers), you will be so missed. I will especially miss you for your many flavors of senbei. ISHIHARAYA SENBEI: Ginger Poi coconut Kabocha spice Assorted Sesame Kawara After stopping by the day before you shut your doors to pickup some goodness, and waiting two hours to get into your shop, I also came to know and love your dried fruit mix. Thank you for your many years of serving our community. Wishing you all the very best Ishihara family and workers!

Went here to get some senbei cookies before they close. The line was pretty long and only one person admitted inside at a time. They had limited merchandise which was a bummer. Only limited to 1 bag assorted senbei because that's all they had. I wanted the poi and coconut senbei, but they were all out. That is why only gave four stars. Nice and friendly staff and very helpful. I got iso peanuts, and prune mui too. They closing for good Nov 14. Went to support local business before they close for good. This is the first time I was here because I didn't know it was in Waipahu. Recommend you get your senbei before it's gone.

Thank you to Ishiaraya for their 101 years of service. It's always sad to see a local business close its doors after servicing the community for all these years. November 13th will be the last day to get their freshly made treats from their Waipahu factory. Much Mahalo!

So sad but they're closing in November. We traveled from San Francisco to come here. Products were very limited but was glad we were able to still some time enjoy. Thank you so much but you guys will be missed!

The store front in Waipahu will be closing on Nov 13!! Get your senbei now while you still can because after that you will only be able to find them at local stores in Hawaii. Another gem that is going to close their store front. Please support local business. The best senbei imo are the ginger wafers and the poi and coconut ones. Their li hing dried fruit is also ono and has the right amount of zing to it.

Just discovered this sweet little bake shop recommended to us by a friend and picked up a bunch of cookies today. FYI the ladies told us today they are retiring and the shop is going to close on Nov. 13th so go there and stock up! Buy all the cookies.

Would come here years ago with my grandparents and parents. I loved when they sold bags of the broken bits for a discounted price. That is how I discovered I love the ginger senbei. They no longer sell the bags of broken bits, but have expanded their menu from bags of Assorted, Ginger & Original to include Poi & Coconut and Kabocha Spice. All very yummy! I believe seniors can get a small discount on the assorted bags only. Not sure sure how much though. They have a small private lot and only allow 1 customer to enter their tiny store at a time. Did notice that they don't always have all varietie in stock, but products are always fresh. They do sell other items, but I usually only buy the senbei. Support local small business & try stopping in. Check hours on Yelp because they have limited hours & are closed on Mondays!

Best senbei ever. I always purchase 2 dozen bags to bring home for omiyage. The crackers are always super crunchy and fresh. The coconut poi and Kawara are my favorites. Worth the ride to Waipahu.

For as long as I can remember, my family would get senbei (tea cookies) from Marukai. I knew that they were made somewhere else, but I had no idea that it would be from such a small, unassuming shop in Waipahu! We usually stick with either the assorted or kawara. The assorted bag is nice because it is large (good to share) and there are a variety of flavors to choose from such as original, sesame, ginger, and kawara. My personal favorite is the kawara. Although it is rather thick and can be messy to eat, it is satisfyingly crunchy. I love the subtle sweetness; it almost reminds me of a caramel-like flavor. The ladies that work there are so nice and welcoming; they even put us on the wait-list for the poi and coconut senbei that they sold out of. Once we get that call, we'll be back again for more!

I Loved the fact that the shop is set up simply organized, and served me even though I walked in a few minutes before closing. I felt appreciated, being their customer. I enjoyed the display of family history of their plantation life, and nostalgia...kerosene latern, old tin storage cans, pictures. This was evidence of a long time Hawaii family business. Good Job!

I was so happy to visit Ishiharaya on my visit back home before the pandemic. I grew up eating these delicious cookies and remember the wonderful photographer who always brought them to my family. It was such a surprise to find out that this is his family's store which his son currently runs. I hope they will continue to make these lovely cookies. They are delicious and definitely a place to visit if you are in the area.

The classic local snack since forever Ishiharaya has sadly faded from my thoughts with many new treats flooding online and everywhere it feels like it got lost in markets somehow. Luckily I have a friend who knows and gets me who always keep up with the local jonese gifted me a couple of bags I've never seen before...gah!! Located on Waipahu Depot Road in yup Waipahu this adorable little gem takes you back in nostalgia once you enter this shop. Covid distant friendly you're able to view a pricing menu and the buckets of snacks available which of course was out of the ones I wanted...Kabocha spice :/ sigh...but I was able to place an order for the moment it's available so I decided to take home a couple snacks (Kawara and chips) until I get my fix. They only take cash and their new hours of operation are brief (Tues to Sat 9am-2pm) so you need to be quick to keep your snack attack in check. Grateful for the years of yummy snacking, thank you!!
