Best bar within 100 miles .. I came here many many many many times while I lived in Ames.. managed to make it back tonight before an ISU basketball game.. still one of the best bars of all time.. ask for the house shot
I’m convinced Thumbs is one of the 7 wonders of the world. The atmosphere is tops, the people are incredible, and the drinks are delicious. There’s no shot they can’t make. The prices are more than fair. Not to mention the bartenders enhance your experience that much more. If you’re looking for a quaint dive, this is the spot! Some of my favorite memories were made in these walls<3

Laid back bar with fantastic specials! Locals and ISU'ers drink together as friends with good drinks and great service! This place has been an ISU tradition and should not be missed. Wonderful smiles from the bartenders and they know how to pour! Grab a drink after class and unwind or shoot a game of pool. One of Ames hidden jewels. Patio outside for the nicer months. Always remember it's Thumbs up!
