I really love the atmosphere of Torrent - it feels like a small-town bar but it's a brewery right in the heart of downtown Ames! Andy and Angie have made a very cozy and intimate environment yet often host fun events such as weekly trivia or bingo that brings outsiders into the fold. Great beers, great spot! Beers were delicious - really well balanced and lots of varieties! Service was helpful, welcoming, and had great suggestions when asked. You can bring underage people - there are housemade sodas and a selection of board games and a few game tables. Restrooms were clean and thoughtful. Very enjoyable and affordable evening. Don't miss it on your next stop in Ames!

The beers were good. There's a pretty wide variety. I got a flight that included a blonde, an IPA, a sour, and a Belgian so I feel like I was able to gauge the brews pretty well overall. It was nice to try a bunch of different styles. I feel like their strength lies in golden ales and sours, though the IPA was pretty dang good, too! Great open space, nice staff, some games available. I enjoyed it!
