Over priced bland pizza. Staff was great, funny and welcoming. If there is a next time I will get the pasta.

Not good. $15.49 for hubby's "fish n chips". Basically 3 fish sticks and a bowl of bagged coleslaw mix. No coleslaw sauce on the cabbage either. When he asked our server about this (because fish n chips is fish and fries) her response was "this Is a pizza place". Yeah but why is it on your menu if your cooks don't know what it is or how to make it? Menu specifies fries. We are usually 20%+ tippers but her flip don't-care attitude got her 10% and she's lucky she got that. We won't be back.

Walked in and sat at the bar at 7 pm. No bartender and every spot at the bar had dirty dishes. Hostess said the bartender was in the kitchen. Waited for a few minutes and no one appeared.

First time going to this restaurant and the last! Upon arriving it was a Sunday @ 4:15pm we stood a min and then were seating in the bar area in a booth. I immediately noticed it was very loud between the drunk woman 2 tables away that was trying to talk over the tv’s. I also noticed it was extremely cold! I froze the whole time we were there. We order our pizza and drinks. It took forever to get the pizza and there was only 4 tables of people. My husband ordered a draft beer and she never even told him about the different sizes of beer available which I would call it up sale. After about 25 min our pizza came out. The waitress never came back to see if he needed another beer which I would have thought with the small cup of beer she would have in about 15 min. He had to drink my Pepsi. After we were finished eating she came and I said he was way past getting another and she said oh I will get you another! She went to the bar and went to the computer for about 6 min before coming back with the beer. At this point she asked if we wanted the bill and I said yes please. Waitress came back about another 5 min with the check. I sat the card with the bill on our pizza box. We did not see the waitress for 10 min and then my husband decided to go to bar with check and card. Bartender asked if she could help him and he said I need to pay out bill. Bartender went to kitchen and told waitress we had been waiting that she would be right out! Bartender comes back and was talking with customers at the bar a long with my husband was waiting bartender said we should of sat at the bar. Bartender got tired of waiting on waitress and told husband should would just over ride ticket so we could get on our way! Finally got bill paid and left.Pizza and beer was okay but services sucked and we will NOT be going back!

This establishment is always a great choice for pizza or pasta. They have a good selection of alcoholic beverages as well. The staff is always friendly and fast. The place is a good atmosphere and has clean bathrooms. The food is great and always filling. Good place for gatherings or just watching sporting events.

Well to start off my drink had a fly in it… manager didn’t even make an appearance to speak to me only talked to my boyfriend who had to take it personally up to the bar.. the the pizza rolls were not cooked through and filled with a nasty mayonnaise sauce which was inedible. The pizza was subpar and bland for being a “Meat me” and overly greasy! Our poor 19 year old waiter could only apologize so much even though it wasn’t his fault and he did remove the drink charge from the bill. Definitely will not be giving this restaurant another chance. This was not worth the $85 check we spent! I doing recommend anything from this place.

This place has been gradually declining over the past few years. We were seated quickly, drinks followed in a timely manner. Our server took our order shortly after. We ordered mozzarella sticks, fish and chips and a tavern thin double deckeroni individual size. Took about 15 minutes for the food to arrive. Appetizer and entrees all at the same time. The tavern thin was not thin. Server set the pizza on an empty table and took the food order from the booth next to us. The manager came out and apologized that the regular kitchen staff was not in today and the tavern thin is not really thin. We kept the pizza not knowing how long it would take to remake. I inquired about tartar sauce for my fish. The manager asked another employee to bring some out. A full five minutes after finishing my coleslaw, fries and the mozzarella sticks, the waitress returned. I asked for tartar sauce again. She brought it, but the fish was cold by this time. I witnessed three different table seated and abandoned for lack of service just in our little corner of the restaurant. If you can't provide basic service then don't open your doors. Old Chicago in Ankeny is now on my "No Go" list of restaurants. Unfortunate, maybe they can turn things around.

Used to love coming here. It's been getting worse over the last couple of years. Finally had enough to post a review. We were told to sit wherever. We sat down. Waiting 15 min no service. No menus given no drinks taken. Employees talking to each other and totally oblivious or maybe they don't care. Finally got up and left. I told them their service sucked and they had the nerve to say excuse me and tried to say I was rude. Yeah that's nice. Combat your customer.

It was cold enough to hang meat in the restaurant. We were the only people in the restaurant and asked if they could turn it up a bit. We were all freezing so ended up eating on the patio. The patio was unkept, the tables were dirty, the plants in the planters were dead. The calzones that were ordered were not done. It was a disappointing experience. We should have known when there were absolutely no cars in the parking lot, that it we were rolling the dice eating here. The quality of the experience was not worth the price. I would suggest avoiding, as it doesn't appear that it will be in business much longer.

The waitress was kind, but the appetizer was canceled due to "lack of cooks". Took too long to get order when there was no other customers excpet 3 or 4 at the bar. Food was not good, the chicken carbonara had no flavor had to dump parmesan in it to eat it. Pizza and calizone crust was not soft at all and flavor of calizone was not good. My kid even said gas station pizza was better.

Very sub par for the price. I waited 6 minutes to get help in the front of house. Got the food and was excited for the Chi Town trio but was met with Italian nachos that were barely topped with anything. The pepperoni rolls were burnt. I got 3 mozzarella sticks with 1 being crushed into the side of the box where it closes. Would not recommend.Edit: wish I would have read the reviews.

There is a Casey's General Store a few minutes north of this place. Go there instead, you won't be able to order the spinach and artichoke dip I ordered but don't worry. It wasn't good either. It was bland, barely warm and missing the chips. Never heard of a tavern crust before, apparently it's a wet stale cracker. My personal pizza cost as much as a large from Casey's. Seriously don't eat here. Don't let the 5 star reviews that are sprinkled in with the bad reviews dupe you into wasting your hard earned money. My fries were good, gave me something to dip in my bland cold dip.
