Horrible I will never come here again, the manager was beyond rude, we asked for the fight to be turned on and she instantly snapped on us. Then yelled at her staff in front of everyone. The food was good the server was so sweet but the manager is absolutely horrible. Those poor servers hopefully they find better soon.

Great food and staff. My husband loves their meatball sandwich and their burgers are amazing. Definitely try their chicken wrap! Always a favorite to eat at when in Iowa.

Went to whiskey river in des moines, knowing that I liked the one in Ankeny. The waitress had only been there for two days so I didn't really blame her, she should have had better training(former waitress, a lot of places especially after covid are mass hiring and not training). Server kept telling us that they were short staffed and call outs had happened, waited almost an hour in a not very busy restaurant for any kind of food. Appetizers were good, main dishes were terrible. Burnt well done burgers, chicken sandwich tasted odd, we ended up leaving half our food. We ordered classic mules for our beverage. I thought that full copper cups were illegal in des moines, but I haven't recently verified that and all the mules were made with something other than ginger beer and not garnished with anything (also a former bartender). It was an experience that will lead me to not return and not refer.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Came in at 11:30 on a weekday for lunch and notice only 1 other table was occupied. Seated ourselves because no waiters were seen. After 10 minutes, the waiter brought us menus. The other table was brought 3 of 5 meals and could overhear them complaining how long it took to get the food and they were still waiting on 2 more meals. After another 20 minutes of waiting for the waiter to come back to ask what we wanted to drink, we decided to leave.We passed the waiter on the way out and told him we waited 30 minutes and were leaving. He then said they had 1 chef and started cursing and yelling at the chef that people were leaving. I'm not sure why he needed the chefs help asking people what they wanted to drink...? His lack of attention had nothing to do with the chef.All he needed to do was communicate with us that they were a little behind. The chef should have been able to manage 1 table of food on his own. I can't imagine this place If they were actually busy....yikes.

Would give 0 stars if possible. $50 charge for a flight of tequila without any pricing on the menu. No description of the flight. We got terrible service and inaccurate food delivered. What a joke of an establishment. Good for them that they made their money on our first visit first trip. We will never return and will tell everyone to avoid this place.

I used to live at the soll apartments above this place, so it was convenient. Sadly the service was never good even when the restaurant was dead. We always expected it going in. The food is pretty decent-the coconut shrimp and their sandwiches are pretty yummy. There is a variety of board games there to use which is awesome

I think this is the first review I have ever given online and I feel compelled because the quality was so bad. I bought a frisco burger and a side salad instead of fried. The burger was missing the onions and mushrooms so it just some sliced sandwich bread with a piece of swiss cheese and the burger. The side salad was fine until I realized that they charged me 2.00 for the salad and .89 for the dressing. The total came to over 18.00. Utterly and totally ridiculous, I could have received a better quality burger as culvers. Never going back, and I'm going to make sure I tell that to everyone else I know too.

It's a nice clean place. Decent food. Ok service. That's about as far as the praise goes. We went here during NFL game to watch the game and they didn't have the game on. They turned it on for us when we asked, but there was no sound from the TV. Just super loud club music playing. It was sort of a vibe kill. Like there were about 3 other tables there and they kept looking up at the TV trying to hear the game but this place is just bumping club music so loud that I couldn't even hear my dining companion. A few simple changes would get them more business, like facing the tables to the multiple TVs and actually playing the sound from the TV when there is a game on. This place is trying way too hard to be a night club and cater towards that sort of crowd. I don't think I would go back here despite living close. I like the drink deals but the whole environment is just very odd and the vibe is off.
They gave us a burger that was still pink and it was supposed to be well done . They took the whole plate and Supposedly “Fixed” the food but brought back the same burger and side on the same plate with just a replacement patty thrown on . Dont eat here that is disgusting to play with food like that and then bring it back out when there is also like 6 people running in and out of the kitchen not washing hands apparently

I'm a new regular here and LOVE LOVE it. The bartenders are amazing . Dont even get me started on the food. I love all the food they serve !!!! I would recommend eating cheese curds and the rad dad. They also have a pool table !

First and last time we will eat here. Stopped here for a dinner on a Monday night, place was almost empty, should have been a sign.We went to the patio and ordered our food. Shortly after the waitress said they were out of rice so we ordered substitutes. Waited and while and the food showed up. Meats were way over cooked and like rubber. Told the waitress, but they did nothing about it. After that the service changed too. I heard the waitress telling another customer that substitutes were also an up charge even when it is because they don’t have the food on the menu.My recommendation? Steer clear of this place for food. Might be good for a drink or two on the patio, but not much more…

This restaurant has a great patio. The service is hit or miss. I do not like that the three times I have been, no one greets you at the door. This has resulted in a rather long wait while sitting on the balcony. They need to invest in a host at the door to do the seating during meal hours. We have had one great server, one mediocre server and one that left a lot to be desired. I fear that there may not be a great training program for the servers here. The food is fine for what it is...bar food. If you go in expecting that, it's fine. I would recommend if you're looking for a place with a great patio, but go in with the expectation that service is hit or miss.
