Went to whiskey river in des moines, knowing that I liked the one in Ankeny. The waitress had only been there for two days so I didn't really blame her, she should have had better training(former waitress, a lot of places especially after covid are mass hiring and not training). Server kept telling us that they were short staffed and call outs had happened, waited almost an hour in a not very busy restaurant for any kind of food. I used to live at the soll apartments above this place, so it was convenient. Sadly the service was never good even when the restaurant was dead. We always expected it going in. The food is pretty decent-the coconut shrimp and their sandwiches are pretty yummy. There is a variety of board games there to use which is awesome

It's a nice clean place. Decent food. Ok service. That's about as far as the praise goes. We went here during NFL game to watch the game and they didn't have the game on. They turned it on for us when we asked, but there was no sound from the TV. Just super loud club music playing. It was sort of a vibe kill. Like there were about 3 other tables there and they kept looking up at the TV trying to hear the game but this place is just bumping club music so loud that I couldn't even...read full review
