“Halfway through a bikeride, stumbled across Fenceline. Turned out to be an excellent place to stop. The beers were great the food was excellent, there was no so-so or low spot. Service was friendly, helpful and there when you needed them. Biking back to the patio at Feneline soon.”

“The food was great. I tried a margarita and it was a little heavy on the mix. I prefer table chips warm, but these were still crispy. It would have been nice to be told that we needed to go up to the register to pay. You don't see the register when you come in because it's tucked on the side of the door out of the way. I really enjoyed the tamales.”

“Ames is so lucky to have this wonderful bakery here on Main Street! We especially like the multi grain and traditional rye breads, and we are just starting to try their cakes and pastries. Everything we have had is delicious and the quality you would find in a fine European pastry shop. We split a piece of the Kyiv cake for dessert this evening, and it was excellent. Highly recommended!”

I had to greet them and ask them if i just wait here (pick up preorder) and i got a weird look with a yes. Only came for an order because my nieces and sil love this place. didn’t enjoy the vibe of it all.”

“We had a wonderful experience at this small Italian pizzeria. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and everything was very clean, including the bathrooms, which I always appreciate. The salad was fresh with crisp, cold lettuce, which was a great start to the meal. We ordered both pizza and pasta, and both were fantastic. The pizza crust was perfectly crisp, just the way it should be. The pasta was outstanding! Honestly the best chicken Alfredo I’ve ever had. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the sauce was rich, cheesy and delicious. You can really tell they take pride in their food and their restaurant. We’ll definitely be back!”

I also have celiac (gluten free) and my wife has a dairy allergy so finding food in town can be a challenge to say the least. In this context, Lockwood truly felt like an oasis of sorts. I want to sincerely thank them for their work to cultivate the space they have and to thank them for giving me hope for the future of Ames itself. I feel truly seen in a positive way for once!”

“Excellent BBQ place! The smell alone is divine! We spent Valentine’s Day here for lunch! Brisket was so juicy and Omgoodness melt in your mouth tender (without being mushy) hubs devoured huge portion of the Briskey Dipper also 10:10! Jalapeño hush puppies with a spicy aïoli & hallelujah potatoes were nice balance with the meats! Never could eat it all in one meal that just means we’re also enjoying today! So juicy it warms up nicely! Highly recommend can’t wait to go back and try more menu items!”

“This restaurant is my guilty pleasure food to eat. Pancakes are something I would never go to a restaurant for but OHH!!! These pancakes taste like dessert! Everything I’ve tried has been great. Prices are fabulous. Staff are friendly. Service is quick. Haven’t tried the non-breakfast items but why would you when there’s PANCAKES! Only negative is they aren’t open for dinner during the week. Oh and the coffee drinks are great.”

Asked for ketchup when food came. She brought it after the burgers were eaten. Guess she wasn’t focused on serving!”

“I love this place because the people here have heart, you can feel the care and passion in their food. They are humble, honest people who make amazingly delicious food. When I was at a low point and couldn’t catch a break, the cook said he’d give me the extra crab rangoons he cooked while waiting for me to pick up my order. “It’s okay, remember to pick up the food sooner next time, we’ll be here” I haven’t visited in a while because of my health but those words helped me feel seen. Thank you, you have the best crab rangoons in Ames and you’ve touched my heart. Merry Christmas, que dios te bendiga.”
