“We love finding a good local Chinese restaurant. Panda Express and P.F. Chang's have are fine, but nothing beats the authentic taste and nostalgia of local Chinese restaurants. We have been going to this place for several years and they always satisfy us. The interior is cozy and small, and the business is owner-operated. They have a separate traditional menu that is worth trying, but also worth gate keeping. It features Korean-Chinese fusion dishes that are delicious and unique. Everything is fresh and cooked to order. Our orders are usually so hot from the wok that we have to wait a few minutes before digging in. The owners and staff are very friendly, and the service is extremely fast. The number of local Chinese restaurants in the city has dwindled over the past decade, so finding a little gem like this is a treat for us whenever we crave some freshly cooked Chinese food.“
“I must confess I am a Cashew Chicken snob! I come from Springfield, MO, (Where Cashew Chicken was invented) and I love the meal there. That being said, I was excited to hear finally, after 23 years of living here. Someone had listed on their menu, "Springfield Cashew Chicken". I will say it is close, but not exactly there yet; but they are better than anyone in Iowa I have tried, (And I have tried a lot! Ha).Ok, here we go; this place is very nice, clean, service was very good (and always smiling). The food was Hot, fresh, generous portions, and delicious. This is my new spot for Chinese food, for lunch and dinner.“
“The egg rolls still have our hearts (and stomachs) but the Pho was absolutely delicious!!! The depth of flavor was amazing! The kiddos loved "making" their own pho bowls with the assorted toppings and our family devoured it! Do yourself a favor and order some of their wonderful food ASAP!! Egg roll Ladies - Thank you for such a wonderful family meal!!“
“JUST got done eating there, 1st which I didn't want to cause a fuss, my steak was well done NOT medium rare like I ordered and I asked to split the shrimp and steak like have the half order of steak and half order of shrimp and our server said, "Sure no problem" well got the check and was charged an extra 4 bucks and when asked about it our server said, " I asked my manager and they said we couldn't do that" well that would have been nice to know, horrible service!“
“Excellent food! I love their new location- close to the sculpture park and downtown fun. The staff were friendly, checked about allergy ingredients, and informative about the menu. The windows bring in beautiful light to this very nicely decorated space too! It was fantastic!“
“Great food, great sake, great service. I was only in town for a few days, but Mandarin Grill was good enough that I ordered twice (once as dine in, once to go). My server (I'm forgetting her name, maybe Rebecca?) was friendly, knowledgeable, and chatty. She made sure I knew exactly what I was getting, and that I was happy with everything. The miso soup was delicious, and I really liked the yushang eggplant as well. My only very minor complaint is that the egg roll was greasy. The taste and texture were very good, but it was almost like it didn't get drained after being pulled from the fryer. Aside from that, everything was terrific. I look forward to visiting again next time I'm in Des Moines.“
“Fawn's is one of the top restaurants I have had the pleasure of dining at. The quality of the food is consistently impressive, with fresh ingredients, visually appealing presentation, delightful aroma, and superb taste. Furthermore, the restaurant maintains a high standard of cleanliness and showcases a welcoming atmosphere.I must also commend the staff at Fawn's for their exceptional service. They demonstrate professionalism and kindness throughout the dining experience.I cannot emphasize enough how much I appreciate Fawn's and the remarkable experience it offers.“
“It had been a couple years since I last had Teriyaki Boys (back then, they were where Fernando's is now in the Local Bites food court), and it was kind of sad to see what used to be a super busy food court with lots of options only have a few open options (that and the dimly lit room made it seem kind of forlorn), but I'm glad to say that Teriyaki Boys had the same great taste and the same competitive pricing. The amount of food you get for the price in addition to the taste itself is fantastic. We've been trying to find a good teriyaki place that's somewhat comparable to Washington state, and it's safe to say that this definitely helps the teriyaki cravings!Got the shrimp, beef, and chicken (didn't take a picture of that, but did take a picture of the beef and chicken) with steamed rice. The rice was really good, veggies gave a nice crunch, and the meat was juicy, tender, and just fantastic.“
“The food is amazing, the atmosphere is awesome, and the only real issue is cross-contamination in the sauces and when being cooked. I don't mind a little spicy, but when my sauce and another person's sauce merge together and it gets left like that to cook if theirs is too spicy it bothers me and I'm sure that the other person might not like my sauce mix either. All in all, it's still an epic place to eat.“
“Our server Nisha was absolutely incredible. She was always busy but made sure to provide lots of refills and checked in on us at all the right times without it being too much. We had a wonderful time and our server certainly was a big part as will as the cooks!“
“I showed up for lunch today with 5 of my coworkers, we were only on lunch, so time constraints. The food was excellent as always! Best sushi in the metro in my opinion! We had a wonderful time! Our server, Cassandra, was fantastic! Got our bills out to us quickly while we waited on food so we could go when we needed to! And when we realized we were running short on time and asked for boxes, our food was brought our, packed, ready to go!“
“I visit the Ankeny location pretty regularly and love this place! They always go above and beyond for me, provide a great service with great tasting food, and are very friendly. I recommend all my friends to go try it when they get a chance. Due to it being good tasting food that is good for you without all the added calories you get from other fast food places. Cameron, the manager, is a very good guy, is always working hard in there and runs a good crew. I highly suggest everyone try it!“
“Came here the other day and the food was amazing. They have hands down the best pad thai in town! My friend got the Pad See EW with white rice and the chicken that came with it was amazingly crunchy and saucy. I ordered the drunken noodle and they forgot my beef with it initially until I mentioned it and it got sorted out. Would 10/10 recommend this place.“
“The proteins are cooked well and the ginger dressing is fantastic. The chicken katsu is an absolute must for an appetizer. The prices have really jumped...expect around $20-25/person after tip. When Ken was cooking, he cooked salmon with the skin and made the skin crispy...a real treat. Unfortunately, the new crew doesn't do the same. Gnats were flying around during last visit.“
“Small hole in the wall restaurant. At first look, you wouldn't think anything of it. Upon walking in, it's a smaller space but welcoming. And the bar tender was very prompt and helpful with ordering. They said 25 minutes for our large Crab Rangoon Pizza and cheesecake egg rolls. We walked around the neighborhood and returned 25 minutes later to our food coming right out the kitchen. Too bad this place is in Des Moines, we are from DFW and would love to eat here again. The pizza was just as good cold as it was hot.“
“I absolutely love coming here. I know that my food is going to taste delicious every time, I know that I am going to be treated well, the service is so fast and I truly love the atmosphere and the music. Best Thai tea and Chicken Pho in Des Moines!“
“The atmosphere alone is impeccable in this place, just stunning!I’m a biiiiig person on cleanliness, especially about where I eat. A huge indicator to me that a place probably isn’t cleanly is if their lobby is obviously dirty (ie.. multiple dirty tables, dead bugs on the windows seal, muddy floors, dirty condiment bottles, etc.) but Lucky Bamboo almost instantly put my mind at ease once I stepped foot into the business. Not only are they cleanly, but the food is delicious. I’ve lived in Iowa for going on 4 years now, and one of the biggest disadvantage I keep running into is poorly made, not appetizing oriental food. I truly only have a handful I would comfortably order takeout from and Lucky Bamboo is one of them! The service is quick too. I came in last time during a lunch rush hour at around 12:30-1 pm and all I had time to do was pick a seat, wash my hands, and then BOOM my plate of food was dropped in front of me. Hot and fresh, YUM!Overall, I’d say Lucky Bamboo is a GREAT place to eat.“
“The people there are really nice sushi is very delicious desserts are very delicious women are very beautiful. ? ? To all of the employees of Hibachi Grill you're very beautiful nice sweet people and the next time my very best friend and I come there could you please give me one of your chocolate chip cakes for free?“
“Been to Wasabi a couple of times since they moved to their new location in Johnston. Love the ambience, food is great and staff is friendly. I sit up at the bar and Tyler always makes sure I'm taken care of and offers great conversation and suggestions. I love the spicy Mexico roll and the Gyudon (comfort food). These are both pictured.“
