Excellent. The food was locally sourced and made.... Even the ketchup. I highly recommend this for great beers, delicious food, and great service.

We've been here many times but today was our last. After a long day that was chilly and windy, I was set for a nice, hot bowl of soup and salad. The other two in our party ordered a pepperoni pizza and a salmon sandwich. The table that came in 15 minutes after us got their food 10 minutes before we got ours. The restaurant had 2 tables of 6, 2- two tops, one single, 4 people at the bar and us, party of 3. Our food finally came and my soup was almost warm. Lukewarm at best. So I politely asked our waitress to please take it back to the kitchen to warm it. The soup came back and was just as cold as the first time. I did not eat it and refused to give it another shot to send it back a second time. It was suppose to be a cabbage soup but there was no cabbage in it, just a few white beans at the bottom of the bowl and one piece of carrot. Way less quality than expected. If this soup had a beef base, (I assumed it was because it was dark brown), keeping it at this low temperature would allow food borne bacteria to grow, making anyone who ate it, sick. Food poisoning, basically. We'll see how I do in the next several hours. The pizza dripped grease when picked up off the plate but we just didn't want to complain so it was picked at and put in a box to take home. There was a literal puddle of grease under the pizza. Probably will get tossed. The salmon sandwich was actually quite amazing in that there was a 1 inch wide piece of salmon in the bun. Seriously?! The fries that came with the sandwich were all short, end pieces. Not the usual longer fries. Our waitress never came back and when she brought the check I told her I was a retired chef and that the kitchen needed to check the soup temperature and whatever means they used to keep it hot because the 2nd bowl of soup was not warm either. She said the line chef dipped the soup and it was steaming. Again, this was not the case. Who was she covering for? She was arguing at me that the soup was hot. Come on! Another in my party had a spoonful of the broth and remarked, "It IS cold.", to confirm I was not nuts. I did not eat the cold soup and the caesar salad had so much dressing on it, it wilted half way through eating it, which was gaggy. When the bill came the soup was not removed from it, so basically, we were charged $12 for a few bites of salad and cold nothingness soup. THAT is why we will not be back. The waitress had the audacity to tell me I could take the soup home and warm it up. Wait, it was suppose to be warm there, at the restaurant! It's not fun to leave a restaurant hungry. We were not taken care of and for that, this review. This place has gone down hill in the few months since we were there last. I am not a complainer but this entire meal for all of us was totally unacceptable. Three strikes. This review will be sent to the owner and also to the manager. April 4, 2024, arrived dinner hour, left thoroughly and completely disappointed.

Went in after work, LOTS of people working , and lots of visiting. Sat 5 min without being addressed, got beer wasn’t asked if I wanted a menu. I finally asked for a menu, but bartender decided to make friends with people that came in 20 min after me. Had one beer and went across the street for food.

Good food and drink spot in Kalona! In the words of my friend: "There's a few restaurants and the brewery... the brewery is good." Upon arrival, we saw the place was nearly empty and requested a table a bit of distance away from others as one of our group members is immunosupressant. The younger hostess got frustrated with us quickly and almost made us want to leave. SERVICE: 5/5 We opted for a spot at the bar - since it was basically empty - and this saved our experience. The bartender (and our server) was extremely kind and fun, as well as the other woman working that evening. We loved connecting and chatting with them! DRINKS: 5/5 I got a root beer on tap, and the rest of our group got flights. They loved their beers - some cool nitro, IPAs, barrel aged, coffee stout, and more. Honestly really impressive options for Kalona! One of the servers even showed us her favorite - mixing the cider with their sour. FOOD: 4/5 For food, our crew enjoyed the pork tenderloin sandwich and black and bleu burger. Unfortunately, the stir fry rice was too mushy and overdone. AMBIANCE: 4/5 Cozy vibes, but the seating arrangements are a bit funny - there's a large space on one side with no seating, and you can't eat at the sofas.

Wait time to be served by bartender was extremely long. One couple left after not being waited on.

Excellent except they could use some blinds during mid day. The sun was very bright. The server was excellent and friendly. Definitely would go back, but maybe in the evening when the sun isn't coming straight in the south facing windows.

Andrae was great. Made an audible on a flight beer that was out and nailed it. Great food and great atmosphere.

This restaurant used to be a 5 but it is clear that they have let things slip. I have always enjoyed the Hummas w/ veggies & Flatbread before. This time however we got ground chickpeas only. Someone forgot to add the spices & other ingredients. It was close to inedible. Got a salad pear & goat cheese. Lovely, except it had one little piece of bacon on it & I told the server, no bacon. The server was not as attentive & our waters ran dry. I do not believe any of the kitchen crew were wearing beard nets that needed them & one person without a hat. I know the last is a serve safe violation. Please do better.

Ambience is great. Service excellent. Food is good. Beer heavenly. I just wish it had more games playing. I would go more often.

Rude and judgmental because of my tattoos also a The employee, a black male tried to be friend me there said he was off duty and he said he could get me some drugs, which I told him I wasn’t interested, and they said this time I came back a month later of the employees was uncomfortable with me when she flagged me down to say hello, which is very strange and they told me to leave I’m very upset because I’m nothing but a kind person and they were very disrespectful and they threaten to call the cops on me so I left and I told him God bless anybody decides to go there go out your own risk they’re all on drugs and very strange people. God bless. !

Ordered a pear and goat cheese salad. Only two small pieces of pear and no cheese. The salad barely filled the center portion of the bowl plate. I was informed it was the large salad. I have had side salads bigger than this salad.

Excellent Sunday morning menu! Service was great even with it being very busy that day. I would go back in a heartbeat.

I so badly wanted to like this place, but I just can't. Thank God I had a 50% off certificate or I'd be really honked off. Ok, so it was busy, they had an event in Kalona, butbwe came well after the lunch rush. In defense we were immediately seated, but it was all down hill from there. I get businesses are short staffed and busy, but im getting tired of that as an excuse. We ordered the onion rings and cheese curds appetizer. Seriously 3 onion rings and maybe 6 curds for $15.00? They were tasty but sparse and we had no silverware and no server to get us some. Waited FOREVER fir oyr fish and chips to get 2 pieces ilof fish and like 10 French fries. While it was tasty, not near worth the price. I would have gotten fuller on a McDonald's filet o fish fir a lit less. Yes it was tasty, but seriously small portions for the price. The beers were good but I won't be back.

Awesome staff and amazing beers/food. We’ve come here many times and we always have a great experience. They are also great with kids.
