I am not sure the residents of Ottumwa realize how lucky they are to have this gem of a restaurant. Most cities ten times larger, let alone this size, don't have an Ethiopian restaurant, especially without a large Ethiopian and Eritrean community. The restaurant is also much larger than I expected, with ample, well spaced, seating. The food, East African from Eritrea and Etheopia, is very good. The owners are very sweet, well-meaning people. The operation of the restaurant is a bit amateurish. They're not quite sure what to do when you show up, but they seem to figure it out as they go. But they're new, give them a chance!
I can't believe this restaurant exists in Ottumwa! We had the Lamb in red sauce (#11), the Derho chicken (#12), and the Veggie Combo (6 items). As good as anything I've had in Minneapolis or Brooklyn. We picked up for take-out and I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely family. I strongly encourage supporting this amazing family owned restaurant
