Great food! Loved the beef tibs! The waiter (the son) was great to chat with! Great little family history here. Will definitely support them again the next time I come through town!

I can't believe this restaurant exists in Ottumwa! We had the Lamb in red sauce (#11), the Derho chicken (#12), and the Veggie Combo (6 items). As good as anything I've had in Minneapolis or Brooklyn. We picked up for take-out and I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely family. I strongly encourage supporting this amazing family owned restaurant

On a Tuesday afternoon I drove to Ottawa from Des Moines just to go to this restaurant because I had been to Ethiopian restaurants in other cities and really liked the food, however when I got there at 2:30 pm and they were closed despite their hours stating that this restaurant was open, what a disappointing waste off time, driving from Des Moines to Ottawathinking i was going to be able to enjoy some Ethiopian food, and thats the only reason I drove that far

Fantastic. You owe it to yourself to try it

I am not sure the residents of Ottumwa realize how lucky they are to have this gem of a restaurant. Most cities ten times larger, let alone this size, don't have an Ethiopian restaurant, especially without a large Ethiopian and Eritrean community. The restaurant is also much larger than I expected, with ample, well spaced, seating. The menu is fairly standard for an Ethiopian restaurant, with many meat and vegetarian options, including various combinations. The proof of course is in the pudding, and the food was delicious. This is probably where I'm eating, while in Ottumwa, from now on.

The Key Wat is amazing. I have traveled 3 hours in the past to get Ethiopian food in Omaha. It nice to have this place so much closer. Still an hour drive but it’s worth it.

The food, East African from Eritrea and Etheopia, is very good. The owners are very sweet, well-meaning people. The operation of the restaurant is a bit amateurish. They're not quite sure what to do when you show up, but they seem to figure it out as they go. But they're new, give them a chance!

This is a place you must come and eat at! We came for lunch. No other customers. Just the two of us (Valentines Day!). And two of the owner's kids working on art projects in the back (the daughter gave us a masterpiece). The food was absolutely wonderful!! We had a platter with beef, chicken, lentil and kale dishes plus bread. Delicious! Spicey but not harsh. We have had Eritrean food before in Portland, Oregon, and this was easily equal. Easily. Four dishes, bread and tea (spiced and delicious) for $30 and the quality and quantity made the price seem low. Too low. The decor goes along with the kids in the back: nothing fancy but authentic. No one else came in while we had lunch, but this place, these people, their food, deserve your presence and support. We will return and we will bring friends.

Absolutely delightful family and delicious food. Several caucus volunteers and I are here this past weekend and the food was the best Ethiopian I've had. The owner was cooking and serving all by himself and his young children ventured over to chat with us. Dad told them not to bother us, but we were happy to have their company. The oldest child was very knowledgeable about Ottumwa, politics, and other topics and we had lots of time as the meal was prepared. If I lived in Ottumwa, I'd be eating here weekly. Thanks for a wonderful experience.
