Our waiter was the owner so we were treated to some stories about the place. We had been to Breitbachs when we still lived in Iowa; and on a trip that took us by Balltown, we were able to stop in again. Probably one of our favorite restaurants in Iowa.

So... awesome place... but! The kid they have in charge of taking names and party size is the biggest jerk (keeping it nice)! Screaming out people's names like it's pissing him off, including the "all business" frown and zero personality making everyone feel like they're bothering him to eat here! We're sitting here right now and he's barking out names regardless of who's standing 2" from his pie-hole then jerking tables around and throwing silverware on them. Perfect place except for this all-important dork......
We went for Sunday brunch. The food was delicious and the variety was great.Kid-friendliness: We had our 10 year old granddaughter and she chose chicken strips instead of the buffet. She got her food quickly and enjoyed it.

We love Breitbach's. Family owned and family run. If Mike is in the building, he always comes to say hi. The staff are outstanding, friendly people. Truly "family" dining at its finest. Oh, and the food is always exceptional. That's a given.

We've been here several times now. Sometimes reservations are a good idea, but we had plenty of room today at 2pm for our table of 7. Generous portions or a nice buffet.

They were the most kindest people with warm serve and a smile and they went out of there way to make us feel welcome and that means so much in this day and age it was most diffenitly worth the 45min drive from galena up there but even from our home on lake zurich IL we are coming back for a visit with as much of the family as we can bring along the food was amazing and the whole exprience over the top and well worth the drive

Food was very good and always has been the only thing I was a little disappointed was the prime rib really wasn't as good.. I hate there a few years ago on Valentine's Day in the head regular slices of prime rib where this time they had this thinly sliced stuff very little rare which I like.
