Not a good experience. The lady working the counter was rude and not friendly. The restaurant and seating area were not clean. Most importantly the food was not good. Very few selections on the pizza buffet, the chicken was old and dry, and the Mac n Cheese had a crusty layer on top. We were there at about 3:30PM and the lady (seemed to be the manager) said they were getting ready for the dinner crowd while vacuuming around our feet. I have been to various Pizza Ranch buffets dozens of times and this experience definitely did not meet their usual standards. Go to the Indianola store instead.

First time being at one of their restaurants I wasn't impressed. I had ordered a delivery one time and Ivdidnt like it at all ordered 8pc fried chicken and bended up throwing it away. After giving the Second experience I think I will completely pass on their chain altogether.

I recommend the Tuscan Roma thin crust pizza. It has Alfredo sauce, spinach, sliced Roma tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese.Vegetarian options: You can tell them a pizza you would like them to make, then they will serve it up at your table.Kid-friendliness: They have a night when kids eat for free.

I am really disappointed I eat at this pizza ranch all the time but decided this week that I would get things to go, twice! Both times cheese Stix was over done no extra cheese. Pizza didn't have hardly any chicken on it and was over done. The biscuit is way over done. I don't even want to eat this meal and I spent over $50 there this week alone! Not happy to say the least!

Clean! The staff was outstanding with their work ethic and kept up with the hungry crowd and crews. The food was fresh and the staff was very friendly. Well done!Vegetarian options: Can order a pizza immediately. Salad bar is well maintained.Dietary restrictions: Many choices on the salad bar. Upon arrival one can request a choice pizza, which arrives in a few minutes after ordering. Great stop for interstate travel.Kid-friendliness: Lots of choices for the picky eater in the family.

We stopped for lunch around 2:30 last Monday, March 25. Chicken was over cooked and tough. We think it had been sitting out for some time. We told one of the workers and she said “we just put more out”. Well we went up and it didnt appear to be anything different but we each got another piece to try. It was also overcooked and tough. We left and will not be going back.. the lady we talked to didn’’t really seem to care

If I could rate this a 0 I would. I ate there for the buffet last week. I am a former pizza ranch employee myself. This location definitely needs corporate to come in and do an overhaul. The cheesy breadsticks are cut so small they are smaller than your pinky when in training I was taught to cut them bigger and all they tasted like were the crust because they were cut so small. Also, they were not bringing out fresh food really at all. They had food that was not under the warmer and was sitting out where the plates were and it was very very cold. The pizzas on the buffet are not labeled as to what it is so it is kind of like roulette if you see one but you don’t know what it is but you have to take it to see if you want to eat it. For the cactus bread, they are required to serve medium cactus bread on the buffet and they were serving the small ones and looked like they were sitting under the warmer for more than the required 20-30 minutes before it looks bad to even take. Definitely never coming back to this location and will try another one because this pizza ranch deserves to be retrained or be permanently closed.

After two separate 1-star experiences at Pizza Ranch locations in Waukee and Winterset, I gave up on what had previously been one of my favorite resturant chains. Years later and I found myself walking in the door at the Urbandale location with limited expectations. I was happily surprised!The male cashier (I regret not getting his name) who greeted me was phenomenal. The level of service, his contagious smile, and attention to detail were next level. It felt like I had walked into a Chick-fil-A and was greeted by the franchise owner.In stark contrast to my other Pizza Ranch experiences, the food here was fantastic. Starting with a fully stocked and fresh salad bar; no missing ingredients, no frost burnt lettuce. The pizzas were also all high quality, rich in toppings, and masterfully prepared. (Too often pizza buffets skimp on ‘expensive’ toppings such as meat and cheese, but not here!)Admittedly, the woman clearing dishes came by more often than I would have preferred, trying to take plates away while I’m still eating from them. Though, I could see she was well meaning and just trying to be helpful.Another small negative was 2-3 week’s buildup of dust on the lamp shades above each table. While it was at eye level when I’m standing, this may have been missed by a sub 6’ cleaning staff.Still, my overall experience was excellent from start to finish. Hey, even the ice cream machine was working! I’ve already returned a second time and plan on doing so again before heading back overseas.
