What a West Des Moines gem. La Barista is a family owned and ran coffee shop that so welcoming. Make sure to try their breakfast burrito. A savory Italian sausage, potatoes, peppers with a hint of cummin I assume. SO GOOD.
A small coffee shop that could be missed if you didn't know it was there. I love spots like this - a hidden find. The Yelp reviews drew us here on our way through town and we ordered a variety of drinks: americano, chai, and cinnamon oat milk lattes. And we ordered a variety of food: breakfast burritos, chocolate muffin, Rice Krispie treat, and blueberry scone. The coffees were good. The chai was mostly milk, though very creamy. A little out of the way for me on the south side, but I was meeting a good friend so it wasn't just to grab a coffee. The barista was very friendly and informative regarding coffees available and breakfast sandwiches. The place is small but offers table service if you want to chat or be mobile. I would recommend it if your in the neighborhood or want to try someplace quaint and cozy.
