Cute little brewery tap room in downtown Winterset. People working there were very nice. Beer honestly is not great by craft brew standards, but a couple were certainly drinkable. They have some fun bar games in the tap room. It’s definitely worth a stop when in the area.

Great service! It was busy when we stopped in, but they came to us to see what we'd like and found us a couple chairs until a large group left and opened up some tables. Beer was good too!

Stopped in for a flight. The two IPAs and the two sours I had were very tasty. Nice variety of flavors and each were full-bodied and satisfying to drink. Very friendly staff. Had a really great experience. Will definitely come back soon.

Small town breweries always require a stop..1st Down was a nice little space in downtown Winterset.Clean, open, well organized, in a sweet pool old building.Lady behind the bar was super friendly and helpful..Beer selection was decent, ranging across varied styles.While nothing knocked my sox off, everything I tried was tasty. Clean, crisp, well balanced.. My only ?.. what nano brewery serves domestic cans??

Great brewery right down town. I had the Dual Threat, a 6.2% ABV citrus IPA. Good taste, mouthfeel and good aftertaste. Really helpful and personable staff. Enjoyable experience!

This is a really nice addition to downtown Winterset. I didn't try all the beer yet, but the blackberry wheat is terrific and the orange white wheat is also good. My husband said the citrus IPA was also good. The atmosphere is kid friendly with juice boxes and some snack mixes and a few games. The staff and owners are really nice and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend a stop here if you have time. There are also some wine options, including slushies, that look really good!
Found this place while walking around downtown Winterset with my kids. The brewery is really pretty, clean, and they had juice boxes and some little snacks for my kids to enjoy while we waited for my husband to pick us up. The blackberry wheat beer is terrific. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend it if you like craft beer or wine.

Stellar vibes and good beer. Janet was awesome--friendly and helpful. It's rare in breweries that someone takes the time to explain every style. This is a gem that's perfect for connoisseurs and novices alike. The games and free bar snacks are a great touch. They clearly care about their patrons and community. A list of local restaurants is posted at every table, and carry-in food is welcome. Definitely worth a visit while in Madison County or make the short trip from Des Moines. Cheers ?
