Restaurantji's Rathdrum picks for the finest Mexican cuisine.
“This place was a wonderful find. The staff are nice. The portions are on the larger side. We always have leftovers to take home. Fresh ingredients. Discovered street tacos here. Wow! And the chimichangas are huge and satisfying. If you like cheesecake, they have a fabulous fried cheesecake rolls. It looks like an egg roll, but it's a warm wonderful dessert.“
“?? In the world of food service, it's not if you'll make a boo-boo, but when. The true mark of excellence? How you handle it – admit the oopsie and fix it, quick and easy! ??So, there I was at the Taco Bell in Rathdrum, just waiting to pick up an order (yup, just a witness to this awesome moment!). And let me tell you, their response to an order mix-up? Absolutely stellar! ? Heartfelt apologies, lightning-fast fix – they were on it! ? Such a huge difference from the mess over at the Apple Way Taco Bell. I mean, I bet the Rathdrum team wouldn’t make you buy extra just to get more sauce packets, right? ??PS thinking back I do believe this restaurant Taco Bell has always been super Speedy super clean and super friendly might be worth a couple extra miles to hit a really good Taco Bell environment“
“As a transplant from Southern California, this is our favorite Mexican food. It’s the closest to authentic Cali Mexican you can get up here. Everything is phenomenal, the lengua is cooked to perfection, the super burrito is our go to, full of rice, beans, excellent flavorful carne asada. Not to mention, if you like heat.. they bring the spice. It’s amazing. Their customer service is also 10/10. Love everything about it.“
“I'm always on the lookout for authentic San Diego style Mexican food. I try this place for the first time today and I had a quick snack of loaded tacos carne asada of courseI was very impressed very impressed with their salsa very impressed with their presentation and the foodI've tried so many places in this area that I have not gone back to you but I will definitely be coming back to this place very soonNow my only question is can they make an authentic carne asada burrito ? ? Are their rollee tacos corn or flour tortilla? Wait, Do they do roll tacos? Lol.“
“Food has always been fantastic here. It's a small restaurant but doesn't feel cramped. It's cozy and the atmosphere is very nice, and the service is great. I like that they have options for people who are vegan/vegetarian, and last night when we ordered from them on doordash they threw in a big bag of chips for free--score! Thanks for that!“
“As someone who has eaten a lot of Mexican food in southern CA and in Baja CA, this is the closest match I've found in northern ID. The generous portions of al pastor and carne asada are on point and their carne asada fries/steak fries are just like the California fries I used to get! Some folks don't like fattier meats but I love it and think it adds great flavor. Their beans and rice are yummy too and their salsa is fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant!“
“I was holding on to hope that the Mexican place not far from my house was good, and that faith was rewarded tonight. I saw something that puzzled my mind on the menu, fried potato tacos, and decided to roll the dice. I also got a large order of chicken taquitos. Our orders came fast which was nice as there were enough customers there that it might have slowed things down. I took one bite of these potato tacos and I was dumbstruck. You know how on food shows they say "this shouldn't work but it does" ? Those tacos ARE DELICIOUS!!! They're visually appealing, crisp, flavorful, and the potato is the absolute star in a surprising and unique way. Our waitress Maddie was charming and helpful. The taquitos were very juicy with the chicken and quite enjoyable. My ma didn't care for the rice, so I dinged a star for her not liking the beef taco. I loved everything I tasted“
“I love Taco Works on Best Avenue! I am not only a regular customer but got to work with them as well! I have eaten all the food and seen the behind the scenes prep and cooking! I love mexican food and they are the best in town, the food is absolutely delicious! They are more than willing to customize orders to your liking! They are friendly, the type of place where they’ll remember your favorite order and name! The owners are very hardworking and awesome people! I highly recommend to anyone that loves Mexican to give it a try!“
“Las Brasas can make your meal celiac-safe! I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease (think gluten allergy on steroids), and eating out is such a pain. Even a tiny bit of cross contamination does damage. Las Brasas has a button on their register to mark a meal for celiac customers, and then they designate one person to prepare the meal using separate pans and utensils. They walked me through their menu to explain which items I could safely eat, and when I said I wanted a taco combo, they explained that the refried beans would likely be cross contaminated from using the spoon to spread it on tortillas for burritos, but that they could cook up a side of black beans separately instead (which is even yummier in my opinion). The food was delicious as always, and I finally found a place to eat out that won't make me sick! I will be coming back for taco Tuesday as often as possible!Dietary restrictions: They successfully made a celiac-safe meal for me, which is hard to do since the tiniest amount of cross contamination will cause a reaction. The owner told me his sister in law has celiac, so they know how important it is.“
“So... the service is quite good. But, TBH, I felt a bit of anxiety watching how the Owner/Manager was CONSTANTLY moving through the restaurant while speaking into his walkie-talkie head set. I appreciate good service. However, personally, I "felt" His constant micromanagement style took away from our experience. To see (most of the) employees "react" to, presumably, the Owner speaking to them through their walkie-talkie head set was just a bit unsettling. At one point, I asked a server, "Wow! He runs this place as if he were _________!" The response confirmed my observations.Moving on...The service, as I stated, was good/ great. The food, similarly, was good/ great (depending on the item). The atmosphere? It was nice. Clean. Plenty of seats/ booths.. just beware of your location in relationship to the doors. Staff tends to leave them open while serving people outside. So, it can get breezy. The decor is consistent except for the Large Family Photos hanging on the wall. I am all for Family Representation, but... a few of the photos (IMO) just felt a bit out of place. (You'll see, LOL)Prices are standard. Drinks were yummy. Overall, it's a good place. And I would go again.*Please remember: this is MY review, MY opinion... We each have our own opinions and experiences. This is the representation of mine.“
“This place is on par if not better than Mexican food from Texas and California. The salsa is on a different level, the street tacos are fantastic, and the chimichanga was probably the best I've had. The servers we spoke to were all very nice as well. If you're in the area I would highly recommend.“
“This was my first visit to La Cabana. I'm sure I've driven by many times, but just never stopped in. I came with friends on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. The staff was attentive and friendly. The seating was booth style and the atmosphere was casual. They served us complimentary chips and salsa which came with two salsa options. One was said to be spicy which I didn't try, and the other was mild. I ordered the Shrimp A La Creme which came mixed with pasta. That is different than I've had elsewhere and I liked it. The flavors were very good, and it reminded me a bit of shrimp alfredo at an Italian restaurant. The tortillas, were warm and fluffy. They gave me several and I was only able to eat a couple with my meal because I was already stuffed. I will definitely be back again when I'm in the area.“
“Okay, so the only reason I gave this place 3 stars for food is, being a native Southern Californian, I'm used to Mexican food with a *serious* amount of flavor. And this place does a decent job in that respect. Better than 90% of the Mexican places in the inland PNW where people seem to be afraid of chili's or other spicy ingredients. So I would really call this type of food "Latin American INSPIRED" food. But their meats are acceptable as a substitute for something simmered for a couple days by someone's abuelo who grew up in Guadalajara or Cuidad Juarez. More of a "we waved some chili's at the food to inspire it" kinda "Mexican food" that the...sensitive pallets of North Idaho can handle. Their salsa is pretty good, though, I will give them that, even if it is missing that "holy Mother Mary, that's going to be uncomfortable coming out" heat I miss so much.Service is reliably good, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating.I will say it's always cold inside the very small dining room. Like "don't forget your jacket or sweatshirt" cold. Maybe it's my missing thyroid and that I'm sensitive to temperature changes now, but I'm always very chilly inside.I'd recommend them for their Buritto Supremo, my family all like their tacos, and we haven't had any complaints for the quality of the meals we get. If you live up here, and need a decent, affordable, and enjoyable hit of Mexican food, hit this place up, definitely! Parking can be a little tricky, and the one way roads make approach kinda troublesome, but if you coke in from the resort area of CdA, you'll be fine.“
“This place is my favorite for Mexican food. The chips salsa is the best around, as well as their guacamole which are all fresh made daily. I highly recommend their tacos, fajitas, and enchiladas. But everything here is top notch!Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcomeWheelchair accessibility: There is a wheelchair ramp.“
“My wife and I went here for the first time recently and it was great! Honestly I don't know how it took us so long. We both loved our food. I had a large house margarita as well and that was fantastic! Our server was one of the friendliest we have had in a long time. Overall great and we will definitely be coming back more often.“
“Nadine's Mexican Kitchen is our favorite restaurant in Rathdrum! Always impressed with their delicious tasty food! Enjoy trying something different every time! Somewhat difficult sometimes to find a place to park, But only because it is a small restaurant and busy! Do very well for a little restaurant!“
