Morgan was the most attentive, conversation well, and made the whole dinner a stress free, well orchestrated affair. If you're looking for a great Shakou experience, request Morgan.

We were excited to visit after reading some good reviews. The food was actually pretty decent, and for that reason we will likely go back and give the place another shot. However, service was slow and left a lot to be desired. Missed drinks, wrong items ordered, extremely slow service.

Had reservations for 6:30 but didn’t get seated until 6:45 even though there were a half dozen open tables. Took 20 more minutes to get the first drink that I’m pretty sure was missing the alcohol. Ordered a roll for an appetizer that was average at best. I got a filet and the girlfriend got another roll. I didn’t get silverware for probably about six minutes after the food came. The filet tasted burnt even though it wasn’t. The rice was good though. She wasn’t a fan of the her sushi. Ordered another round of drinks right when the food came out and they didn’t show up until 5 minutes after we were done eating. The biggest waste of $185 I’ve ever spent. I will never go back.

Updated 2024. 5 stars for past all past years but this has seemingly ceased to be a quality and enjoyable dinner spot...1. Reservations are not managed, at 530pm table on 2nd floor, hmm, get there and told nope, 2nd floor is full.... at 530pm slot and woyld be 45min to an hour to get a table on 2nd floor.2. Waiter was friendly but seemed innatentive to needs for water, new drinks, food orders after initial sushi rolls... not bad but not in the same class it once was... more like an Applebee's or chilli's type of experience....3. Food quality has suffered greatly... sushi is not portioned as before... the pink panther roll was seemingly 90% onion and fish unable to be found...Their great Chillean Sea Bass seems to be gone from menu ... the ginger/soy broth one... told to try the Barramundi, an Australian Sea Bass ... these are two very different fish... yet ..ok... but when served the Parchment paper it is served in likely had more moisture than the over cooked super dry fish it contained!!!On a positive note, the Short Rib is still excellent.Unless changes and improvements... I don't see a return... and this was once an spot we enjoyed every couple months with friends and family...

This place has a good ambience and nice drinks. My wife loved her drink( fire and ice). Food was good, their rack of lamb was delicious but their chicken fried rice missed something ( some spices I guess) and was OK. Sushi rolls were too good to Not miss. Veg pot stickers are also good. Service was good.

My first time here, service was slow. I had to ask for refills multiple times. Not usually one to complain about a restaurant experience, but I felt compelled with this one. First off, it took half an hour just to get our appetizers. Then, it took an hour to get our entrees. By the time our food got here, it was cold. And my meal had chicken, which was dry. My meal was $28 for less than a pound of chicken and a cup of rice along with some side vegetables. The price alone was ridiculous, especially for the time we waited. Then after complaining to our server we were told that we had been rung up already and they couldn't do anything about the price. They offered us a free desert, which was smaller than the size of a tennis ball. I am really disappointed with the first experience I had and won't be coming back. Make sure you're okay with the prices before taking a chance on this place. The food itself tasted good but was not worth the wait or nearly worth the price. For two people and a couple drinks/appetizer we paid well over $100. Future customers beware.

Shakou does look beautiful from the outside, but I was not impressed with food. First of all, everything could use some extra touch, either more seasoning or more attention to how the food exits the kitchen. The calamari were more on the chewy side, and the spicy dipping sauce wasn't remarkable. On the other hand, the nachos with the spicy tuna dip were really good. For our entrée we ordered a Tokyo steak with a potato croquet and sautéed vegetables and Sapporo NY steak with jumbo shrimp. Unfortunately, Tokyo steak was not cooked properly as I ordered a medium well steak, but it came out medium. Our server took it back to the kitchen to fix it,but in the meantime, everything else on the plate got cold. The veggies were fresh but did not have any bold flavors. Still, as a courtesy, our server offered we would not have to pay for the Tokyo steak. It was a nice gesture, and it came as a surprise. The Sapporo steak was much better than the Tokyo steak. The accompanying shrimp were cooked perfectly, and they had a delicious glaze on top. Overall, the food was okay, but it could have been better considering the high ratings. Finally, I think that the music that was played at Shakou completely did not match the classic/elegant/Asian atmosphere of the restaurant. I believe that there are better choices than electronic dance music that would go well with the relaxing feel of Shakou..

Nice place. James was are waiter. Did an outstanding job. Big kudos! Beautiful ambiance. Excellent experience. Energetic. We were a little disappointed with the martini poor, kind of skimpy. To be quite honest the bartenders appear to be very frugal when it comes to drinks. Food was seasoned very well.  Delicious.

I love this place! Their sushi is delicious and the use of taro chips on top is brilliant.

We had high expectations since it has good reviews. We made reservations to celebrate our anniversary and here is how it went. We were greeted by a very nice lady downstairs who pointed us towards the elevator which took us to the second floor where our table was ready. One of the two young gentlemen brought us to our table without a menu or any word. We sat at our table for almost 20 minutes and were ignored the entire time. We were never given water, an explanation of the delay or any gesture assuring us that someone would wait on us. Every time a server came near us, they simply glanced at our empty table and ignored us even while attempting to make eye contact. Looking around we were not alone, the table next to us had no server visit them also but at least they had water lol. After about 20 minutes we left and drove to a Roka Akor where we knew the service would be exceptional… and it was as well as the food. Needless to say we do not recommend this restaurant to anyone and we will no not be returning.

My overall grade for Shakou is: ASushi is very goodGyoza were delicious.Service very attentive and efficientI guess this is a franchise. Multiple locations.Even non-sushi lovers have “sushi-like” dishes with cooked food. (I’m not a fan, but whatever)Great place.
