Were from Springfield, Ill and we don't have a Mexican grocery. I've been on a roll trying to make authentic red sauce. Lupita's grocery is awesome! Folks were friendly(we were the only white folks in the place), the produce was top notch, they had an incredible selection of dried peppers in large, medium, and small quantities. In a good part of town. Place was very busy. We didn't eat at the restaurant What a local treasure!!!!
The chicken quesadilla was good the hubby asked for onions and peppers but they didn’t have peppers and they didn’t grill the onions before they put them in. The guys cooking and taking the order have zero customer service skills. I bet if they tried really hard to be polite and show that they appreciate people coming all the way to their business they would have a busy little place. They have borrego here. That in itself is amazing and it was well prepared. Other standouts were the carnitas, lengua and chicken tamales. 10/10 will come back to work our way through the rest of the menu.
