“Hey you know what I never had food from there so I couldn't say much about that. Now I can say this they do have good music but they need to get some air in that place. If you got people dancing like you do and having a good time you need to have a big fan(s) blowing or something. You all are to popular to not have air on but I really did enjoy myself.“

“This place offers the most quintessential neighborhood bar feel with more than a few trucks up it's sleeve. From the best smash burger you will ever have in your life (only $6), to Angostura shots, to a booze filled mint green shake you cannot finish, this bar has it all. The staff are happy and have a good vibe between each other which made me feel happy to be there. The place was absolutely packed but no one was rude or pushy. “This is my absolute favorite neighborhood bar. They have Aviary style cocktails at Portage Park prices and amazing culinary fare. They have the best happy hour specials, and the staff is extremely nice and accommodating. The atmosphere wins the vibe check, and their music is always on point. Not that basic top 20 ish. I hosted my birthday party at their downstairs bar, which has a totally different cocktail menu. Our guests loved the venue and said the service was top notch. The owners are great!“

“I went to Mother's Ruin with a group of my coworkers, and Keith the bartender took the best care of us. He really made all of our nights special. I have also gone to Mother's Ruin for my birthday and graduation, and each time the service is always spectacular. I can't recommend this place enough! “An absolute gem.I reserved the back lounge room for my birthday and it was the best decision ever! It was easy to communicate via their Instagram, and the room was reserved and ready to go. “After visiting the Czech Republic, I was craving authentic Czech goulash (which, in my opinion, is the best goulash in Europe). As someone living in the loop, I was willing to make the trip to the suburbs based on the authentic menu- the food exceeded expectations and was exactly like the goulash I had in Prague.We also had the schnitzel (pork), but was surprised they did not have a veal or beef option.Service was excellent and there is a nice bar with whatever game is on as well. Beer was appropriately priced and poured well.No doubt would come here again whenever I have a Czech cuisine itch to scratch.“

“I would highly recommend fourteensixteen as it is by far the best restaurant in lagrange. The staff are amazing, the vibes are on point, and the location itself presents itself well. I got the pistachio covered lamb rack when I last went, and it was phenomenal. The dish held up well, the lamb was moist, and the sauces complimented the lamb perfectly. I also had the mango cheesecake, and I can still remember how perfect the cheesecake was. It was a perfect amount of cheesecake flavor to mango flavor. I would highly highly recommend this restaurant as I have yet to see a better one in the surrounding area.“

“Discovered this place while biking to catch the BNSF back to Chicago. Usually would bike past to hop on the train at Western Springs or LaGrange Road. But one day I stopped short and popped in here. Really impressed by the selection of beer, wine, and whiskey. Before the Derby, they had three different bottles of Blanton's Bourbon. I asked for a smell (it's not Jimmy John's, I know) and they obliged me without so much as a blink of the eye. Quite an impressive wine selection. “They only serve lunch only during the weekdays (no dinner and no weekends). However it is the best lunch around! It's like your mom went in the kitchen and made it for you. Soups are made from scratch and they are delicious. The BLT on rye is outstanding. And if they have it, you have to try the potato salad. This is a bar with a Northwoods atmosphere that has affordable prices but there are some tables to sit at. They also have a Friday fish special.“

We were singing, dancing and having a great time until the last band finished up around 11:30. The service is superb. “Great little spot to have a few drinks and see some live music. It's a similar set up to Beat Kitchen; bar in front, venue in the back. However, Burlington has no food - just drinks. I have played here and have seen other bands play here many times. The sound is always good and music is usually done by 11:00. Entertainment is booked by Mpshows. Would return, would recommend.“

“We were in the area and remembered that Two Chefs was down the street. We have emotional ties to this restaurant because they catered our wedding in 2011 and we were very impressed with their food. The waitress greeted us at the door and was very professional, polite, and well dressed. My husband ordered the chicken pot pie, it was very flavorful. The chicken was very tender and the crust was flaky like you would expect. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli it was so delicious and brought back memories. “The Newark Nook is one of the more famous speakeasy's on Chicago's Northwest side. While it is most famous for being Milton S. Hershey's preferred watering hole when he visited Chicago for the 1893 World's Fair, it was also the scene of several gangland shootings in the 1920's, and was built on the site of a civil war battle where famed wild Buffalo hunter, Col. Michael Gallen, was killed. Today the bar is mostly known for its extensive cocktail list and secret lounge area. The food is prepared by a former James Beard award winning chef but is a bit too fancy to my taste, but everything is very nice. The Colonel Gallen Buffalo Nachos are stellar and include a commemorative plate that can be taken home.“

Needless to say, I have been to The Works Tavern a few times and it's some of the best food in Chicago, especially on the south side. Mike is a culinary expert and my last visit proved it. I legitimately had the best Philly Cheesesteak I've ever had. The steak was juicy, the bread was soft and the cheese was super cheesy (10/10).The food is always fresh, the beer is always cold and my kids love the pizza! “okay, so we’ve been to Ørkenoy several times before and we always enjoy it. the food has a unique twist (Nordic modern) relative to Chicago’s culinary scene but it’s very accessible, a good value, and the drinks are solid. it’s usually just us, but this day we were a party of 8, including 4 children, which is kinda daunting for most restaurants. our server was totally great, friendly, and informative, and really welcomed the 5 folks who’d never dined at Ørkenoy before. the burgers were delicious, the kids loved the meatballs with lingonberry sauce, the pickled eggs were a hit, plus we adults all enjoyed our cocktails. one cool thing about the space is there’s a claw machine and freethrow hoops at the other end of the Kimball Arts Center, so the kids (with adult supervision) were able to divert their energies while the kitchen prepared everyone’s meals. i am uniformly amazed when i talk to chicagoans who have yet to dine at Ørkenoy, as it’s obviously very much worth checking out!Parking: Plenty of free parking options.Kid-friendliness: We brought 4 kids to lunch and nobody batted an eyelash. The kids were down to try everything and generally had a great time! Plenty to explore!“
