You can also order your own party food to the bar! Jim was so nice. He helped us set up and take down. He and the other bartender were quick behind the bar so no one ever waited long for a drink. We had about 40-50 people and the party room was a great size! 100% recommend Slagers for the easiest party ever.“

The food menu is limited, but again, it’s food for while you are hanging out, you’re not going to take pictures of your plate and post it to your instant gram.The service for my visit was wonderful. The three women behind the bar all helped to make sure I had what I wanted. They seemed to be able to read the customers very well. Great conversations when there was time.The atmosphere is a tough call because one persons boring is another persons party. The crowd seemed to be a lot of regulars and everyone stayed to their group for the most part. “This place offers the most quintessential neighborhood bar feel with more than a few trucks up it's sleeve. From the best smash burger you will ever have in your life (only $6), to Angostura shots, to a booze filled mint green shake you cannot finish, this bar has it all. The staff are happy and have a good vibe between each other which made me feel happy to be there. The place was absolutely packed but no one was rude or pushy. “This is my absolute favorite neighborhood bar. They have Aviary style cocktails at Portage Park prices and amazing culinary fare. “I go here 2-3 times a week to sing, drink and mingle with every customer. Everyone talks to you and the staff is the greatest line up anywhere. They love their customers and they like to have fun, as I have seen them dance to karaoke or just being silly with each other. The front deck is amazing and I can't wait for the fun meals once the kitchen is finished. I used to make this a once a year place, but now it is a must stop everytime if out for drinks. Soups are made from scratch and they are delicious. The BLT on rye is outstanding. And if they have it, you have to try the potato salad. This is a bar with a Northwoods atmosphere that has affordable prices but there are some tables to sit at. They also have a Friday fish special.“

“I would highly recommend fourteensixteen as it is by far the best restaurant in lagrange. The staff are amazing, the vibes are on point, and the location itself presents itself well. I got the pistachio covered lamb rack when I last went, and it was phenomenal. The dish held up well, the lamb was moist, and the sauces complimented the lamb perfectly. I also had the mango cheesecake, and I can still remember how perfect the cheesecake was. It was a perfect amount of cheesecake flavor to mango flavor. I would highly highly recommend this restaurant as I have yet to see a better one in the surrounding area.“

The waitress greeted us at the door and was very professional, polite, and well dressed. My husband ordered the chicken pot pie, it was very flavorful. The chicken was very tender and the crust was flaky like you would expect. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli it was so delicious and brought back memories. Needless to say, I have been to The Works Tavern a few times and it's some of the best food in Chicago, especially on the south side. Mike is a culinary expert and my last visit proved it. I legitimately had the best Philly Cheesesteak I've ever had. The steak was juicy, the bread was soft and the cheese was super cheesy (10/10).The food is always fresh, the beer is always cold and my kids love the pizza! “I'll be honest with you--I did not want to write this review. I want to keep the Friendly Tap Community a secret. You won't find any place like it. They've got a bar, a coffee shop, live music, open mic night, music lessons, an 80s arcade machine with multiple games, snacks and pizza, and a gallery for shows and other events. Go there often enough and your name will be learned not only by the super-friendly staff, but by other patrons as well. Friendly's lives up to its name well beyond what you may expect. If you can only come here once, come on a Thursday night. There's almost always live music on Thursdays--see my video for an example. If you do go on a Thursday, ask for me so I can welcome you personally. ?Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome anytime but you probably want to keep younger ones during the daytime hours. It can get loud in the evenings. There are games and seating in the room next to the bar but it may be occupied by a band or party at night.Wheelchair accessibility: The front door floors are fairly level with the external ground. It may be easier to enter through the coffee shop as the bar area has stools to navigate in a wheel chair.“

“okay, so we’ve been to Ørkenoy several times before and we always enjoy it. the food has a unique twist (Nordic modern) relative to Chicago’s culinary scene but it’s very accessible, a good value, and the drinks are solid. it’s usually just us, but this day we were a party of 8, including 4 children, which is kinda daunting for most restaurants. our server was totally great, friendly, and informative, and really welcomed the 5 folks who’d never dined at Ørkenoy before. the burgers were delicious, the kids loved the meatballs with lingonberry sauce, the pickled eggs were a hit, plus we adults all enjoyed our cocktails. one cool thing about the space is there’s a claw machine and freethrow hoops at the other end of the Kimball Arts Center, so the kids (with adult supervision) were able to divert their energies while the kitchen prepared everyone’s meals. i am uniformly amazed when i talk to chicagoans who have yet to dine at Ørkenoy, as it’s obviously very much worth checking out!Parking: Plenty of free parking options.Kid-friendliness: We brought 4 kids to lunch and nobody batted an eyelash.
