“My first time going here and the food was amazing… I normally would drive to oak park to get Chinese food but since I stay literally 6 mins away from here I decided to try… food was fresh… very flavorful and I loved it… I will definitely be a returning customer Cindy customer service was great as well.. and their CHOW MEIN is the absolute best I’ve ever had everything was made fresh to order… the beef fried rice good the spicy beef was good everything was great“
“We have driven past this place a number of times over the years. We finally gave it a try. Adults are $14 for dinner. When we go to a sit-down restaurant like a diner, we will probably be about. A regular sit-down restaurant, we would need to pick one entrée or sandwich; China Buffet, you can get a little of everything. I'm on a lo-carb diet, and this type of place can be ideal; I need to make smart decisions and not over eat. I did fill my plate with protein and vegetables, and I was able to treated myself to a small amount of soft serve ice cream. China Buffet is hyper-focused on not wasting food - you can go back as many times as you like, no need to pile on all the food on the first trip. If you are not sure if you would like a particular dish, take a small portion and come back if you like it.Dietary restrictions: I'm on a low-carb diet. This place can be ideal if you make smart decisions. I chose portions and vegetables without a spike in blood sugar.“
“Our first time here, it was last minute and we chose it based on a picture someone posted of a soup. We were pleasantly surprised to come in on a Sunday afternoon and we were provided with a table in one of their private rooms. We chose several options and when we tasted the soup, it was soo delicious. Everything was great. Can't wait to go back. We even got additional stuff to go.Kid-friendliness: The kids were offered a kiddie cocktail and they got a kick out of it.“
“Love this place! The crispy green bean appetizer is our favorite. Veronika, our server, totally made our date night! She was very attentive and helpful! Her menu knowledge made it easy on choosing something different for dinner! Can’t wait to go back and try something new again! Thanks again to Veronika!“
“Visited this place with a friend a few times in the past, one of the best Asian restaurants in the area. You can tell the eggrolls are fresh when you can taste the ingredients instead of grease, and the sweet and sour sauce (ask for home made, not packet)- I'd say both are fantastic.Never had a single bad meal here, food is fast, staff efficient and courteous, and you get a large amount of food for the price. While it *can* get more expensive, sharing meals cuts down on the cost, and the food IS worth it.Only complaint is parking is iffy, but between Johnnie's beef and the other lots you'll likely find something nearby...pulls you out of the experience abit, but the food is worth it.“
“What a lovely marvel - a mid century modern, quietly spacious Chinese restaurant with a select menu that fits in a small, two page flyer. The service was super friendly and gracious, all questions answered. We had a small dim sum lunch and each dish was prepared to order, some of the best I've had - steamed shrimp dumplings, bbq pork bau, sticky rice with pork wrapped in a leaf and steamed. Even the subtle music - beautiful jazz singing - made us happy. I so want to come back to this gem next time I'm in CHI.“
“Also known as Asawon, my family has been coming to Peking Mandarin for decades. This is one of the few remaining classic Chinese-Korean restaurants that serve a lot of Chinese-American food and a handful of Chinese-American dishes that are enormously popular among Koreans. They also serve excellent champong, a classic spicy seaweed soup that is not too dissimilar to menudo, sans the tortillas. The trio of dishes we usually get are the spicy chicken wings aka lollipop wings (also available in boneless pork here), sweet and sour chicken (tan sauce, vs. the orange sauce in the American Chinese version), and black bean noodles. Last time we also threw in Mongolian Beef, which was surprisingly outstanding. Not sure if it was just a lucky day but the beef was infused with a smoky wok hei, unlike most Mongolian Beef dishes that are usually kind of watery and bland. I also like the black mushrooms & tofu, a classic Chinese American dish. The popular wings can sometimes be a little overcooked but the thick spicy sauce is usually on point. The primary competitor, Great Seas down the street, might have slightly better wings in a thinner more nuanced sauce, but the black bean noodles here are more generously sauced and slightly better, I think. I go back and forth between which restaurant that I prefer. My spouse prefers Great Seas wings but my family prefers Peking Mandarin for the other dishes and overall. They have large tables and are used to serving large groups, especially on weekends. The service is just fair and can be almost non-existent when they are busy. Be patient and bring cash. The decor is outdated but people here are regulars who come for the food, not to be impressed by interior design. This is one of the Chicago pillar restaurants devoted to food, not trends. I feel like those keep closing - let's keep this one open.Parking: Parking can be tight - we usually manage to find a spot in the diag spaces on St. Louis south of Lawrence.“
“Amazing food. I eat here whenever I'm in the western suburbs. The soup dumplings are very good and highly recommended. I also recommend the stir fried pancakes which aren't really pancakes at all but a type of noodle. They do taste somewhat like pancakes though.Vegetarian options: There are several vegetarian options including pan fried noodles with veggies and vegetable side dishes.Parking: There is plenty of parking“
“If you read any of the reviews for Al's Drive In online, people have a ton of nostalgia for this place. I find nostalgia for a restaurant can play a negative role for those who don't have the association, but that wasn't the case for me who only ate here for the first time today. The Chicago dog and super taco were solid but the combination fried rice was the hero for me. Never thought l'd find this kind of wok hei flavor from a Chicago Red Hots institution in Maywood, IL that would remind me so much of the fried rice I grew up with at my Chinese immigrant family's restaurant in Arizona. Honestly just throw in some bean sprouts and you'd have a 1:1 copy. I may not have the same nostalgia that a lot of the usuals have with Al's, but that familiar taste of home is so present in every bite of this fried rice. I'm immediately transported to teenage me devouring a large combination fried rice at my own family's restaurant after working a full day's 12hr shift in the summer and immediately passing out in my bed when I got home. I wish I had started coming here sooner.“
“Probably the best Chow Fun I’ve had a in a long time. I had some last week and today I had to get some more. So good. Paired this with a mango smoothie. The Chow Fun I requested to be extra spicy with shrimp. Don’t miss this place. The fried rice is amazing as well. It’s as if they grill the rice or something. There’s a little char on it at times that makes it so addictive and delicious. Beware, one visit will not be enough. So darn good.“
“This is a great place for maki rolls... The service was very good. I love the fact you ordered your food and it came to the table fresh, great concept for buffet. Abit of advice go hungry and with more the 2 people for the buffet. Going back soon to try other foods for sure.“
“the food is always incredible, perfectly light and filling at the same time! The crispy chicken aioli baowich always wins and the creative baonuts hit the sweet tooth without knocking it out. I cant recommend this place enough, amd so far I've only done delivery! huge soft spot for being the first bit of food I was able to keep down and enjoy on a very sick day. THANK YOU FOR AWESOME, COMFORTING, DELICIOUS FOOD!“
“I've ordered from this place 4 times and it never disappoints! My 7yr old granddaughter came over so we ordered Chinese food from here today and she absolutely loved it! She said grandma why havnt we ordered this delicious food before ..lol I always get the Mongolian beef, egg rolls, crab Rangoon! Everthing is delicious!“
“I'm so happy to have learned about this spot. They have all the good normal Chinese dishes like orange chicken, Mongolian beef, etc, but I came specifically for the Korean Chinese dishes, jjajangmyun and tangsooyook. This is the best jjajangmyun I've had in the city in a long time. The tangsooyook (which is a Korean Chinese version of sweet and sour beef) was also on point, so crispy and delicious. These dishes are comfort food to me and they were done so well here, really made me so happy tonight. Service was excellent and the pricing is very fair. We will be back very soon!!! They have free parking, but the restaurant is also surrounded by pay to park spots if needed.“
“I’ve been getting food from here (mostly carry out) for more than 10 years and the food is still delicious! One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants. My husband loves their pho, my son loves their pork over rice, and my favorite is the sate soup and noodles. The staff there are very nice too! Thank you Hoanh Long!Just writing this review is making me hungry! hehe“
“Ordered from here for the first time, as it’s super close by and I’m beyond impressed. They left a nice personalized note with my order and the food was to die for. I had the crispy garlic sesame fusion chicken bowl with the garlic butter fried rice and chicken dumplings. The combination of flavors was amazing and for a great price. I can’t wait to try more things on the menu. Thank you so much! Sorry didn’t take a picture of the food as I couldn’t wait to dive in. It looked scrumptious!“
“We went there last night and got a take out order. I love Chinese food. This food is the best ! The staff is very friendly and polite . The food is so good that this is My go to restaurant when I’m in Elmhurst from now on. I am very delighted that we stopped in .“
“My new favorite go to Chinese food restaurant! The owners are so kind, gave my children candy when we came in to pick up. Everything I had was very tasty. My go to's are Sesame chicken, egg rolls, crab ragoon, beef with peapods, and fried rice. They are all amazing so far. Chicken actually looks and tastes like real chicken. All the vegatables are fresh and you can tell. 5 stars! Also the food is FAST and not greasy like some places!“
“We have gone her so many times. This place never disappoints us. The ladies are super nice. Food is served fast. They also pack the left overs for you. They also have vegetarian options. They have these super delicious almond cookies they give along with the fortune cookies.Thr decorations inside are unique and give a nice cozy look.Occasionally there are free music shows. One night there was Rod Stewart. We didn’t know about him, but we checked later. He is a celebrity of sorts.“
“Came for the rave reviews about their dim sum and they didn't disappoint. Food was hot, fresh, tasty, good portions and staff was very attentive. Really have to hand it to the chefs. Although decor is nice, they really should've spent more time or money in hiring quality painters and that includes the restrooms. It would make the place so much nicer for a place that is touting to be a high end cuisine. Been told it's been open for about 4-5 months and will definitely be back for lunch or dinner.“
“one of my favorite pan-asian spots in chicago! the food is always so delicious and fresh, i've gotten it delivered, picked it up, and sat in and every time it's fire. it seems to be family owned, as sometimes there are kids/teens taking my order or serving me, which I love supporting! very attentive and quick to bring the food. if you come, don't miss out on the smoothies. my girlfriend and I will sometimes even come just for the smoothies. they are made with fresh fruit that you see them blend and make right in front of of you. they are so good! I come here pretty often, and highly recommend.“
“20 February 2024 on vacation from MI. While staying in a hotel, less than 2 miles away, I had a taste for Chinese. I google, searched for some tasty authentic chinese food. Happy I came across Hoa-My. The food was surprisingly good. I had the dinner special shrimp in garlic sauce#12. I really liked the beef fried rice, very tasty. The owner was very friendly.“

“Forbidden noodles' primarily culinary focus is Japanese Ramen and stir fry selections. The curry is good and tastes very much like the mild golden ramen brand Japanese curry that I make at home occasionally. The chicken and broccoli added to the standard rice and carrot/potato curry mixture were of good quality. The Tonkotsu had very good pork, and surprisingly, it included broccoli as well. The more common ramen garnishes of onions, baby bock choy, egg, naruto (fish cake), and seaweed were also in this bowl and tasted good. They have a cheese, steak, and jalapeño egg roll that was amazing, and yes, you should try one. Forbidden Noodles is a great addition to downtown La Grange and for this area, this is a good choice for ramen in the area. If you are searching for your favorite bowl of ramen anywhere around chicagoland, feel free to check my reviews of alternate ramen restaurant options.“
“One of the top Chinese restaurants in Chicago!Recommend the orange chicken. Sauce tastes homemade and chicken is high quality and perfectly fried. Also recommend the Chef Korean Special. Heart vegetables, meat and kimchi in a perfectly spicy and tangy sauce.“
“This is real home cooked Chinese food! Very simple old school stall in a food court but don’t let the surroundings fool you. This place is worth the 45 min drive for me. Best Chinese food in Chicago imo. LOVE the scallion pancakes. Everything tastes “
“I have tried all the Chinese food within a 20 mile radius after my old Chinese restaurant closed after the owners retired after 18 years. Oriental Taste is the best Chinese food I've ever had! I've eaten Chi-Tung in Evergreen Park and this place blows everyone away! A+++“
“Food was good. Hit the spot. We had HK style chow mein with beef and it was good. Bbq pork fried rice was good. The pork flavor was subtle but tasty. Singapore style green beans were good. Cooked perfectly, wasn't undercooked with "chaulky" beans. Fresh! Peking duck was good. Not as fancy as some places but passsble and tasty. A few steps above Panda. Servers were good and attentive. Quality service.“
“Beef Peapods with onions were way too bland, slimmy and gelatinous; the whole family stunned. Everything else was perfect and with great portions! We loved the orange chicken, potsticker?, egg foo young and the beef fried rice was delicious.#“
“I commute 25 minutes across town to this location. I haven't found a Chinese returante in chicago that meets or exceeds my taste buds as they do. 8 years and two issues that were easily corrected after informing them. Try the chicken wings, you'll love them. Mongolian Beef is to die for, coupled with a pineapple smoothie to wash it down.“
“A family run restaurant with great food and a friendly staff that makes you feel welcome. The appetizer are start to every meal. A selection of appetizer and splitting a main course is often enough for two.Dietary restrictions: The food is made to order and meets the personal needs.“
“There are several great asian restaurants in La Grange, and most are pretty high end.Yau's Place is on the opposite end of the spectrum, but in a quaint kind of way. This is a hole-in-the-wall, mom-and-pop restaurant, run by a family that charmingly puts zero effort into creating an ambiance. I seriously say that with affection. This isn't a place you'd want to bring a date, but if you just want some good, cheap, fast chicken fried rice (or whatever your favorite Chinese dish is), I'd recommend it.Just be prepared to have a little "uhh.... are you open?" type of reaction when you walk in.“
“We lived in the area for a long time have kow moved to West Rogers Park so when we go back to visit Family we order from them were glad to say food is still great prices are still good will keep going back when we visit our old neighborhood. Keep up the great service.“
“What I had was very good. Has no atmosphere at all. Reminds me of a military chow hall. Has very large menu to choose from. I generally judge Chinese restaurants by its customers. If its full of Asians , eat there, if not, go somewhere else.“
“Food was delicious!I had the orange chicken with combination fried rice and an egg roll. Also ordered a mango smoothie with tapioca that was amazing!Service was excellent; the lady was very welcoming and wonderful, will definitely be coming back!“
“Songs has very good food and their their atmosphere is just a small little Chinese restaurant that has a lot of pictures of food on the walls like many others nothing exceptional but the food is good and that's what's important and it looks cleanVegetarian options: I'm not a vegetarian but I do eat vegetarian dishes from time to time because of my health issues and they're very good you really don't need meat all the time to have a tasty filling mealParking: There are a lot of parking spots around because it there's not just one store it's like a strip area so there's plenty of parkingKid-friendliness: When you call or go in you're greeted very friendly and they're very nice to you and accommodating and they'll get your food out to you as soon as possible“
“Always on point. Food is cooked as ordered. Though the pricing increased still decent amount of food.Vegetarian options: There are no vegetarian foods hereParking: Laramie is busy and the parking is one of those if you see a spot better grab it. I wouldn't suggest double parking in front of the restaurant becomes a clutterWheelchair accessibility: Access into store has a ramp and threshold. But there is no handicap parking spot“
“The people are nice and are working hard. I can tell. I stopped in on the way back from Chicago and I had the BEST avocado roll ever. The avocado was so fresh. I don't think you'll regret coming by when you need something easy to eat :)“
“We buy crispy smelt to go here and those are the best! So cruspy even the nect day. Second time we dined in last night. All the food we ordered are authentic chinese and so delicious. We ordered hongkong steak, kung pao chicken- perfectly cooked and the sauce and spiciness is not overpowering.; yeong chow fried rice is yummy too, salt and pepper chicken is not what we expected. We were expecting a chicken but this is chicken strips covered in batter but it turned out really good too. Service is fast and tge owner is akways nice. The place is a typical chinese restaurant with round rables and booth. They just need to remove the table where they put the bakery products, it's just in the way when you walk to the tables.“
“combination chow mein is always good. Beef with vegetables, salt and pepper smelt and pork chop are very good. their orange chicken needs improvement. The pho is good too although they need to provide addled housing and chili when they serve.“

“This started as trying to find a back-up for Chinatown. WOW! This place is amazing... we call it "5 Minute" because that is what the lady first told me on the phone, and she wasn't kidding... for lunch, that is. Their Lunch Combos come with an egg roll, a bottle of water, a huge serving of shrimp fried rice, and your large order. I LOVE their Shrimp Kow, it is so flavorful, I'm sure anything China House makes is wonderful. Oh, best yet, you get all this for under $12. This is actually 3 meals for me, so I know you construction guys will have enough to eat here for lunch. Enjoy!“
“Food was great. Ate on location with colleagues first. Pass the taste test. Talked to Yan. She was very friendly and helpful with my catering questions. Ordered catering for 80 people. Delivery was on time. Food received great review. It was more than enough to feed 80. Will cater again in the future.“
“Authentic and really wide range menu items, including tofu jelly/pudding, fresy soy milk, and fried dough. Family business with the family working during the weekend. There are 4 restaurants at the International Mall food court (next to Park to Shop asian grocery store) and this place is by far the busiest. Great value and great food.“
“I'm completely addicted to this place. So far it's been the best Chinese food I've had since moving to Chicago. The sweet and sour chicken is wonderful. Most of the time the chicken balls are nice and crispy. The lo mein is also quite good. My favorite is their general tsos. It's just the right amount of sweet and spicy. The only negative is that they aren't open on Mondays.“
“Large parking lot that is usually empty or plenty of spaces. It’s next door to Park to Shop. There are technically 4 restaurants, you may see 5 but 2 of them are connected. The Serbian restaurant is almost always dead, not a lot of customers. It’s a shame because Serbian food is pretty tasty. On the weekends, they have Taiwanese breakfast at Chinese Cafe. Usually a long line. Good mix of Chinese and Taiwanese food. I would like to see them add more of the popular Taiwanese dishes. Prices are usually cheap to moderate. Good size portions.“
“New favorite Restaurant ?I delivered for Uber when I came across this gem. Staff super sweet, very busy at check out side - I love that for them. The air smells soooo good. I decided to grab my mom and we sat down an hour later. The food didn’t take too long to come out. When we seen the portions, we were shocked. Every single thing we ordered was delicious. Staff gave us extra small plates so Mom and I traded a little of our meats just yummmyyy. Went to the restroom very pretty, updated and clean. They played music videos definitely a vibe. Different kinds of seating in the dinning area. We sat at a booth. We grabbed to go plates, I for sure ate the rest for lunch the next day and will be going again pretty soon.Order:Fried Rice Plate with Green Pepper Steak comes with an egg roll.Side of Crab Rangoon w/sauceFried Rice Plate with Orange Chicken also comes with an egg roll.“
“I have been going to Chopstick Express for 8 years. The owner is very nice as he remembers his customers who frequently dine in, carry out, and have food delivered. The food is extremely fresh and always hot even if there is a wait time. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone as you want be disappointed.“
“Great sushi and gyoza dumplings. We got the shrimp tempura roll, Blackhawk roll, and sweetheart roll. All delicious. Very clean restaurant with nice, lounge-like decor. Very nice staff as well. Was not crowded on a Friday night but lots of takeout orders. We went later at night but I can imagine this place gets crowded at peak times.“
“This place is nothing fancy, but provides a solid meal. It's always fresh and plentiful. The owner/manager is ALWAYS behind the counter and is so hard working. The beef fried rice, Mongolian beef, and shrimp with veg are soooo goodParking: It's in a strip mall so usually there is easy parking.“
