Also known as Asawon, my family has been coming to Peking Mandarin for decades. This is one of the few remaining classic Chinese-Korean restaurants that serve a lot of Chinese-American food and a handful of Chinese-American dishes that are enormously popular among Koreans. They also serve excellent champong, a classic spicy seaweed soup that is not too dissimilar to menudo, sans the tortillas. What a gem in Chicago! Local, authentic Korean-Chinese fusion food. The go to place for jjajangmyeon (black bean noodle) and tangsooyuk (deep fried sweet and sour pork)! Their chicken wings are also phenomenal. Prices are super affordable and portions are generous. No frills ambiance and service. Hope this business stays around for a very long time !
