“Amazing family run restaurant with fantastic ambiance. Great Egyptian food. Authentic koshary. The lemon mint drink is super refreshing. The Cairo platter is a wonderful sampler. Ful + baba ghanoush were awesome. Wrap it up with some mint tea and you’ve had a quick trip to Cairo.“
“Amazing food, we tried stffed lamb neck with rice, the spices are out of this world and the meat is so tender and juicy. Best of all, the guys working there are very friendly and welcoming giving you an atmosphere like you are at home. Highly highly recommended.“
“The best restaurant ever. The food was amazing and the service was even better. I came as an invite from my cousin and it was such an amazing place. Highly recommend!Mashallah, I eat a lot of good food, it is tidy, and the grills are cleanest“
“This was one of my best experiences dining in the city. Very kind and friendly owner who made our experience all that much better. Food was amazing I would recommend anyone who’s in the city or nearby to come and visit this place. MUST TRY!!!“
“Honestly these are the best shawarma in the neighborhood I love them anyone I take here always has nothing but good things to say about the food, the atmosphere is very inviting and the staff is very nice. I recommended the food to everyone that visits Chicago. I love it.“
“Huda was my server for my birthday dinner here. She was very attentive and friendly. She recommended a Moroccan iced tea and it did not disappoint! The environment is not only breathtakingly beautiful, but so much fun! The food was delicious and the entertainment kept a smile on my face. Dancing with the staff was by far my favorite part! I will definitely be returning!“
“Hamdullah One of my favorite places to eat! The hummus!!!! The best … So tasty. The service… so genuine and loving. The food …soooo yummy and nutritious. Peace be upon the cooks and the preparers. Highly recommended.“
“Came here for the first time and made the hour long drive from Chicago. I got the chicken shawarma wrap and a beef shawarma in a pita. The chicken shawarma was very good and had lots of flavor. The fires were fresh and crispy. The beef, however, had no flavor at all and was super bland. Was disappointed with the beef. I’d recommend the chicken to anyone.“
“I'm not used to giving 5 stars, but this place earned it. I've been there after some friends suggested me the knafeh, a traditional dessert that is a must if you will come here. Since I stepped in I was fascinated by the place and it's style. The owner has done it's best decorating it. The staff there was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure our dining experience was enjoyable. They gave us a background about this place history, that is amazing. The food was equally impressive - fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant!“
“The food was delish! Although they seemed rigid, maybe a little skeptical, they were polite, clean, & they take Google pay! I love the garlic sauce. So yum, so garlicky lol!! The falafel was enough for 2 days of eats, & soo good! The baklava was exceptionally tasty, & not soggy, but soft, slightly crunchy, & utter oral bliss! I'm spending more of my loot with them!!! By the way, the pickled parsnips....WOW!!“
“One of the most underrated lunch spots in the west loop / loop area! Great food and affordable. Dietary restriction friendly, and very kind staff / owners. The people there know me as a regular and remember my order, which I find very sweet. One time I left my scarf there during lunch and when I returned shortly after they had closed they remembered me and my scarf and let me in to retrieve it.Incredibly kind and lovely people with good and affordable food. It’s my “secret spot” I will share with anyone who listens!“
“We have eaten at LaShuk at the revival food hall and have also had them cater two events for us. The most recent one was in December and everyone one of the 40 attendees raved about the food. We had chicken shawarma hummus bowls, Israeli salad, babaganoush, falafel and rice. Their pita is really just hands down the best in Chicago.Vegetarian options: Falafel, eggplant, babaganoush, salads and more.“
“Food is amazing! I always get the combination platter and it’s so delicious. Best Baba Ghanoush I’ve had- it’s my favorite thing on the menu. Can’t forget the baklava- so good! We always pick up & it’s easy to order online & my order is always correct. This is our new favorite local spot!“
“Falafel sandwiches were great! I loved the food, but a paid $34 for 4 small sandwiches. I would need like three to get full. Great food, but too expensive. If the sandwich was normal size, bigger, I would have no complaints. They were mini.“
“Jerusalem Cafe is like a cheat code for affordable, nutritious food in Oak Park. It's just about the cheapest place to get tasty salmon in downtown OP, and all the food is reliably delicious. I've lived here long enough to remember the restaurants that used to occupy this space, and I'm glad Jerusalem Cafe has stuck around.“
“Incredible staff and amazing service. Went there for dessert and everything they offered was amazing! The place was clean and nice, the food was good and overall I really liked it. I recommend it for anyone who wants to enjoy delicious middle eastern food and dessert.“
“I been going to this restaurant for a while now and let me tell you this the food In number 1 in Illinois the mansaf is out of this planet it’s made in the traditional way and more importantly it’s made with love this family owned restaurant have pride in what they do and that’s why it makes it special place and a special experienceThank you for always being grate much love“
“I moved a few months ago to Central Illinois from southern California where there was plenty of Middle Eastern bakeries. I googled and drove two hours to this place and I am so happy that I did that. The pastries were amazing. The bread was soft, and the pies were savory. This was worth a drive and I will be coming back very soon.“
“We just went to Al Basha, which means the king in Arabic, after searching it on Google Maps. Wow the food is so incredible. We just had to get takeout because we were going somewhere but we will definitely go back! I had just a plate of falafel and my husband got the beef Shawarma sandwich. The portions were even bigger than they told us and everything was incredibly freshly homemade. Wow!“
“Finally got to check out this place in the Loop. It seemed like it was always closed, but they've been open more often recently. Nesh has a lot of counter service Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food such as falafel and shawarma. Make an order and get it fast. The prices aren't that cheap, but not that bad for around here for the most part. Came at lunch to get some falafel. It's a pretty limited time you can come here. This place is only open weekdays. One of those places that's order at the counter. Seems pretty casual, but the food is better than that. It's about $11 for a typical wrap or something. The signature item is the Shawafel Shrock, which is a big wrap. Has a lot in it. There's falafel, and they typically put steak. If wanting to get it vegetarian, they put in more falafel. There's typical toppings like Jerusalem salad, onions, and pickles. Also whatever else to put on it. They also have loaded fries with Mediterranean types of stuff. Good place to come in at lunch for a casual bite. It's pretty easy to make an order, and it's usually fast getting it. There's meaty items like steak, and vegetarians can get falafel and whatever other toppings.“
“I am familiar with Hashem in Amman, Jordan and was excited to try it. Its just like being back in Jordan. The flavors are spot on. Hospitality is great. They make wonderful fatta, falafel and a killer cup of mint tea. The falafel in the sesame bun hit the spot as well. I am always willing to drive from Schaumburg for breakfast here. I hope they open more locations in the north suburbs.“
“If you are craving Mediterranean food, get to Crave Kabob. I love their menu because they have something for everyone in my family. They have friendly counter service in a fun atmosphere. My favorite is the falafel bowl and their vegetarian offerings.“
“Traditional Old School Style Arabic Breakfast. Tastes just like Home Made without having to do the hours of cooking and cleaning lol. Service is shockingly fast and they’re so busy that everything has always been fresh. Our staff eats here multiple times a week. They never disappoint. This is the Go To for anyone that knows Arabic Breakfast.“
“Caspian Kabab has wonderful food with such a wide variety, there is something for everyone! The owner, Massoud, goes out of his way to ensure that everyone feels is happy and full! The sample platters are a great way to try a lot of different food. His homemade hummus, crabcakes, lamb kabobs, chocolate cake are the best and you have to try his tea! Thanks you, Massoud, for a great night out with the family!!!!! We'll be back!!!!“
“You can eat light and healthy here. But three of our 4 people found Tinfoil in their food. I had tabouli, hummus, cucumber salad, pickles, rice and double order of spicey chicken and a pita for only $11.99. They didn’t charge extra for the Tinfoil!!“
“Nice ambience and good food. Stopped by here with friends for dinner. We were trying to find a spot between oakpark and downtown and this place came up. It was our first time and am glad we made this choice. falafel wrap was yummy, so was the hummusVegetarian options: Lot of choices available for vegetariansDietary restrictions: They can customize wraps to dietary restrictionsParking: Many spots available on side streets but can be difficult during peak hoursKid-friendliness: Kid’s menu availableWheelchair accessibility: Wheel chair accessible“
“Very friendly service! Was able to sample some of the food items ( Thanks Souna!, forgive the misspelling) Food is very fresh and the large Kabob plate is delicious and very plentiful. Love the Falafel and the Kibbeh was good. Really good is the Arabic pizza the cheese and grilled veggie one. I will be returning!“
“The food is unbeatable and there is gold in this hole in the wall shack, which is often overflowing beyond the door. The service is almost like a subway/chipotle on steroid so the advise is that you know what you want before you go to avoid all the stares from those serving and those behind you :).Vegetarian options: Falafel, hummus“
“Walking through the mall, decided to try it- the bowl was so delicious! Got the chicken with rice and cucumber sauce- came with a warm pita to dip into the hummus… so tasty. My friend got the garlic sauce, and that was also really good. Highly recommend!!“
“I am based in the building, and finding halal dining options nearby can be difficult. However, today I decided to try this establishment, and I'm delighted that I did. I opted for a chicken rice bowl with yellow rice, tabbouleh, pita, and hot sauce on the side. The spicy chicken is incredibly flavorful and just the right level of spice. A little pricey for sure though.... But the food is delicious, and the staff is also exceptionally friendly. I'm truly pleased to have come across this gem! Alhamdulillah!“
“The city boasts numerous Mediterranean dining spots. For a speedy yet high-quality meal, Benjyehuda stands out. It provides an extensive selection of dishes with greater customization options compared to rivals. The Ogilvie location's extended hours make it a convenient choice for an after-work meal or a bite on your way home.“
“I had a falafel bowl with spicy hummus, coucous, pickles, cabbage, onions & harissa. The falafel was made fresh and tasted great. The couscous was cold but so were the toppings so it balanced out. As always, the bread was good, but also cold. It's 1000× better hot. This location was clean, but the bathroom needed attention. (They have ancient locking mechanisms for the bathroom doors that clash with the modern look of the place.)Vegetarian options: Falafel“
“This place was delicious. We got food for takeout (felafel, tabbouleh, hummus, pita, and fries) and all were delicious! There is also a chopped tomato and onion salad which is mildly spiced, I didn't catch the name of it, but we got it at their suggestion, and it's also so yummy! They were out of foule this time, so we definitely plan to go back. Very casual atmosphere with plenty of tables, and very clean.“
