“I was a regular customer serveral years ago, poor service and closed Mondays. Recently I stopped by and was surprised to see they were open on a Monday. My family had an awesome experience and food was great. Not sure why they changed their hours but it's apparent they hired or trained new staff....I'll be a regular again as long as they treat customers as guests, and for the last few visits it's been an AWESOME EXPERIENCE. “As much as I love how affordable this place is, I've gotta be honest. The meat tastes very odd at times. There's just something about the ribs. Either they're old, or they're from some seriously beaten down pigs. Maybe the ribs are frozen for a very, very, very long time before being cooked.Now, if you're down to drench the meat in crazy amounts of sauce, which is easy to do because it is crazy how cheap the joint is, you'll hardly notice. But I really do wonder what exactly is making the meat taste so odd.“

“We all know about their BBQ. It's delicious. Famously delicious. We so t need to say much about that other than its famous, it's been delicious for 40 years and it's still delicious. But....have y'all heard of their wings? Probably not. OMG! These are some the best wings I've ever had. Easily the best wings in Southern Illinois and easily the best wings in a 100 mile radius. Tender and crispy at the same time. Spicy with a tad bit of smoky flavor. But not too spicy. And definitely not too smoky. Thats rare. Most places with smoky windgs overdue it and all you taste is the smoke. Not here. Just a flavor explosion in your mouth that hits all the right notes and leaves you wanting to sing that chorus over and over! What the chorus? It's their ranch! Absolutely delicious home made ranch. That's the key. These wings are outstanding on their own but paired with this home made ranch, these are an item worth driving 60 minutes for. Each way.“
“I have smoked hundreds of #s of pork shoulder and eaten my weight in it as well traveling on business. 17th Street pulled pork sandwich today was as good as any I have ever had. Perfectly moist and smokey, the bun was fresh with a generous portion of pork.The ribs have the perfect smoke with the expert tug off the bone texture.The brisket, cut from the flat, is moist, tender, smokey, excellent work!!I'm a fan of fried pickle spears over chips due to the high pickle to batter ratio. These pickle chips have a high pickle to batter ratio so they pass.Speaking of eating my weight on something, their bread pudding is the best! Even the sauce is perfect. The bread pudding is so good, I would drive here just for dessert!!Nachos also great, not mind blowing but still excellent.We tried all the sauces and all are worth taking home, which we did.I am so pleased to see 17th Street is still working at Championship level. “The food is always amazing here. I recommend the chicken parmesan sandwich and the Italian sandwich. The pizza is awesome, too! Also, we have had a delivery driver a few times who is always super happy and gives great smiles. Thanks for the great food and great service!“
