Carpentersville has a few Chinese restaurants, and this is one that's a little above average at best. It was actually better than expected. New Hunan is located in a strip mall. Even so, give it a chance before you knock it. The food and restaurant is better than it looks. After placing a to go order, I came. It was pretty empty inside. They were only accepting to go orders, so that's why. Basic menu items. We got the Fried Tofu With Vegetables. It's about $10 for the only portion. This is the kind of Chinese place that only has one portion for tofu items, and it's large enough for two. It wasn't bad. This was kind of greasy but okay. Forget about dining in. It's only to go orders. The dining room and inside sucks anyway though.

Hmmm me and family was close by and decides to stop and ordered the orange chicken and Kapao chicken and o boy everyone got stomach issues after we ate thier food, and most of the food is going to waiste, there goes $40 some dollars to the dump .

I never ate from this place before but decided to give it a go for my birthday dinner. I will say the food tasted great.. until it came back up. I got the worst food poisoning of my life from this place. Nothing seemed off when I was eating it but about 3 hours later I was throwing up uncontrollably. Ruined my whole birthday with my family. If you like shitting your brains out while vomiting so hard your eyes feel like they're about to pop out of your skull I'd recommend this place for sure. I'm going to stay away from Chinese food for a long time because of this place. Never have I felt such pain and suffering from food poisoning and I hope to never experience it again. I would give one star but like I said it did taste good and maybe it was just a bad batch of rice or something. Regardless, I do not recommend, especially for special occasions it will ruin your good time.

I’ve been going to this place for over 20 years , know the owner she’s very kind , love their food is like a little china town in Carpemtrsville , my kids grew eating there now that they are married they tell nothing like “our Chinese place in Carpemtrsville “ and do agree with them

We have been eating here for Years. Usually everything is delicious, but today idk if there was a new cook or what. Our shrimp chop suey looked dirty dark gray! Not appetizing at all. Everything has gotten too expensive to be serving something that looks like that. I also had to drive back because they forgot an item which is also unusual. Very disappointed today.

Really like this place, I was shown New Hunan during the peak of the pandemic so I've never actually dinned in. But their food is great, and their customer service is just as good. Always answer the phone in a polite and friendly manner which is rare for "fast food" or "shack" not sure what you'd call this type of business. I really recommend it their food never misses.

One of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever tasted! Sure, the location has a lot to be desired for but the food is absolutely amazing! I'm originally from Chicago near Chinatown and this place rivals any of these restaurants easily! Awesome for take out! I hope they reopen soon, it's been hard doing this COVID-19 thing / protests without their food. Come back!! Carpentersville needs you!!!
