The verde sauce is the best I have ever had anywhere. Get a cup per taco. Mexican style tacos are the go to here. We have tried everything on the menu. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t suggest. All depends on what you are feeling. My wife and I had this taco truck 5 nights in 1 week, they’re only open 6. We LOVE this taco truck. The best in CU, but we have a few great ones here. Fernando’s and Maize are great as well. But this for me is my go to spot.

went out of my way to get an asada torta because the pictures looked good and it was SO worth it! first, the address was correct, which can be a hassle with food trucks. the torta & the horchata water (which comes in a large cup) came out to $14. pretty well priced considering its steak and the portions are super filling. will definitely return in the future
Located in the parking lot of Bargain Bins and Hunter's Haven.I've been to quite a few taco food trucks in Champaign-Urbana and Los Hidalguense has the best tacos out of them all. They consistently have the most flavorful and juiciest proteins. However, skip the chicken because it's super-dry like cardboard. Instead order the pork which comes with chunks of pineapple and the chorizo which is charred just to perfection. I think the tortillas are toasted on the grill too, so it comes out with a nice smoky aroma. I also love the nacho corn chips because they're super thick and therefore don't get soggy so easily.Every week they have two specials of the day: "Taco Tuesdays" (4 tacos/$10) and "Quesabirria Thursdays" (3 tacos and a cup of consomé/$13). The quesabirria are made really well because it has a extra crispy layer on the outside. Follow them on Facebook for updates on any other rare specials.Los Hidalguense is my favorite food truck. They take cash and credit, but bring cash for tips.

I used to get these tacos all the time in 2020 when I started my warehouse job. I just had it for the first time since back then (cause they raised the prices) and idk if they changed the type of steak the use or what. I see barley any fat. Which would kinda explain the lack of flavor they gave now. And from the look of the steak its a thin cut of SOME kinda steak. You can see that it's not chopped steak. More cuts. I'm sorry you definitely RE-lost a customer. Paying more for cheaper steak??????.

Champaign has a lot of good Mexican restaurants but many are not authentic. I would argue that the food trucks have the best tacos in town.. this might be the best taco spot in my opinion. If you're a u of i student from Chicago and want good authentic tacos this is the place to come! Food is also very reasonably priced, great quality and flavorful.
