“My Fiancé and I discovered this restaurant after watching “Somebody Feed Fill” and were inspired and intrigued by Sarah’s restaurant and craftsmanship. We had our eye on getting reservations here for a very long time and we ended up landing lunch reservations for my Fiancés birthday (whom is also a Chef). We just happened to be seated by the expo line near the kitchen where we saw Sarah working. From start to finish our server Rose, and Sarah made sure our experience was personalized special. Sarah even signed the cookbook we bought and menu! Everything was on point from the food to the service. I can see why it’s so hard to get a reservation here! If we could rate our experience higher we would. We greatly appreciate the hospitality and dedication that this restaurant displays!”

“I usually go to their Chinatown location but happy to have one near downtown after a night of partying. The golden chicken broth is an absolute must. Also love their marinated meats and veggie variety. The place was packed when we went but the wait wasn't bad at all. The ambience is nice (upscale for a hotpot place) and the servers were friendly and checked in on us regularly.”

“Menu is versatile and delivers whether you’re going for a quick lunch or a nice dinner. Pork is the specialty and I vouch. I don’t order tenderloins at restaurants typically but this is probably the best I’ve had — perfectly cooked and a great dish overall. Not among the top echelon of Michelin restaurants ive been to, but not far behind.”

It's the Chicago way along with those delicious fries that are free and a wildwood pop! Hell, get a porkchop sandwich, too, but be careful with that bone!

“I was going to another place for breakfast this morning while visiting Chicago; I don't know places well. But there was no parking there, and ... I saw plenty of parking near the Golden Apple. So hey, I stopped. Glad I did! VERY friendly, comfortable, nice staff and customers too. The food was fast and delicious. I had a chorizo breakfast burrito, it was big, and full of good stuff, not just a bunch of beans. My waitress was friendly, and quick to refill my coffee. I'm tagging this on Google Maps for the next time I'm in town.”

“My mom and I were in Chinatown looking for a place to have some great fried rice. Yao Yao came up when we searched Google and then we stumbled on it as we were walking so we decided to give it a try. It was clean, spacious and the decor was so cute! Upon reading the reviews further, we found out that this place’s specialty is their pickled fish and that it’s a Michelin star restaurant but we didn’t end up getting it. We ordered their shrimp fried rice with extra veggies, their shrimp Lo mein and their chili chicken. We were disappointed about the fried rice as it barely had any flavor and the shrimp for both the fried rice and Lo mein was lacking in flavor. We kept adding soy sauce and chili oil to make the rice taste decent but the other dishes were good! The chili chicken was very delicious and full of flavor!! We would go back again for the Lo mein, the chili chicken & to try the pickled fish next time but not the fried rice.”

The ramen was my least favorite—would try a different main next time. It is pricier, but the value for money feels right. We got a ton of dishes and drinks and our bill was under $200 for two people. We didn’t need to order as much as we did, but I only visit Chicago occasionally so it was a treat.”

“We loved our meal last night for Valentine’s Day! pair the duck bread with the squash soup. It was absolutely delicious. The goat cheese salad with the apple dressing was equally as good. My steak was cooked perfectly. We had an amazing espresso martini and a delightful crisp lemon cocktail. My husband also liked their old fashioned. We split caramel ice cream with pineapple and it was a great finishing touch. The Moscato d Asti never disappoints either this is our fourth Valentine’s Day with Brindille and it has been our tradition ever since we have been together. Each year is different and this year was definitely better than the last! Their servers are great too. We are looking forward to our future years here. Thank you. ❤️”

Moving our daughter into DePaul we came upon the owner of Red Light chicken who gave us a few pointers in parking near his establishment, after taking the time to help us find a spot he happily welcomed us with a free chicken sandwich which I’m happy to report was delicious. It was nice meeting you tonight and I’ll be certainly stopping by again - Fries are a game changer to!!!”

“I have only been to this restaurant once. From the outside it looks like its barely hanging on. It needs some sprucing on the outside. The interior though is classic and traditional. It has an interior that Bronzeville's Pearls Place could really use and space that Valois in Hyde Park really needs. I can also recall how good the pancakes were. I can't say much about anything else. It's been a while. My hope is that they could clean up and modernize the outside. For this they may need an infusion of cash. I believe the outside is where the business falls off a bit I mean you wouldn't even think it was open for business. Its the only place worth eating at in the whole 8th ward. The area is filled with junk food options and it's a shame. I will be back soon.”

The only problem is the hours are short if you want to go out for dinner. Almost impossible if you are a working person to get to the restaurant before closing. Even weekends are a problem. “Visited the biggest Starbucks Reserve in the world after visiting the one in Milan, Italy. Unfortunately bigger doesn't mean better. That stairway loop and that thing in between the stairs, takes away value space for this store. It's much smaller than it seems and the one in Milan, although smaller, it was much nicer and more comfortable to move around. Do try that coffee beans with whiskey, exclusive only in this location, pricey! But I think the price is worth it for the experience.”

“The food was OUTSTANDING! Best mexican food I have ever had. The chips and warm salsa were delicious. We had the shrimp and chicken fajitas and those were so tasty. The margarita was sooo yummy! “We had such a great birthday dinner! Food was really great and they give refills of the banchan and free rice which is a plus. They explain each dish as it comes out which is helpful for people new to korean food. Iris was very sweet and made my friend’s birthday extra special!”

“The concept for the menu is a unique trip along the Pan-American highway with stops at various Latin countries. Each dish and drink is thoughtful in its ingredients and presentation. The jicama salad was refreshing, but not at all plain. The pastel de choclo was a wonderful surprise of a warm dish. The frozen el arenal was seriously dangerous in how delicious it was, I can’t recommend it enough. The atmosphere was beautiful and the music was perfect. We are so thrilled to have this gem in the neighborhood and can’t wait to see what they do in the future!”

“Can’t recommend Cariño enough! Michelin quality Mexican-inspired fine dining in an intimate setting. Perfect balance of fresh, herbal, spicy, savory, umami, sweet, and salty. It was complex, with an indescribable amount of detail going into each little component in all of the 14 courses. (Also got to try Huitlacoche for the first time, a mushroom-like corn fungus prized in Mexican cooking for its earthy, truffle-like flavor. 👌 An absolute delight!!) The cocktails and mocktails were mind-knowingly good.

Absolutely excellent service. I recommend the chefs table. The chef is very friendly, and the staff is impressive to watch.
They did a great job at accommodating dietary restrictions: no alcohol, no gluten, no dairy.

If you’re into a stuffy atmosphere, this isn’t the place. This place is laid back. No stringent dress code, which is awesome.

Simply indescribable food! Some of the best I’ve ever had in years of trying various fine dining establishments. Still thinking about how amazing it was even days later. Definitely worth the price.”

“I stopped by with my toddler and was immediately greeted by staff. Ordered the breakfast burrito and a taco and rice for my daughter and the food was delicious. The rice was flavorful, the tortilla was fresh and the best part was the agua de Mango. Will definitely have to stop in again and try other items on the menu.”

“The service was excellent!! Starting with host. We thought we didn't have a reservation and she did her best to squeeze us in for an early dinner. We later realized that we had made reservations. The servers were great. Answered our questions and went above and beyond. The Chef came out greet us and ask how everything was.

Now the food...yum...we had olives, I thought I was in Italy, the burrata melts in your mouth. We had honeynut squash with pepitas and anchovies..to start and I think i would have them all again.

As for the pizzas..we tried the butternut squash, sausage, pepperoni, and funghi pizza. I had all but the funghi, I forgot to taste but it was a hit, as were all the pizzas. Can't wait to go back. They have a nice big, beautiful patio where they make pizzas as well.

Almost forgot, we had the Autumn Spice Panna Cotta and the Chocolate Pot de Créme, and both were so yummy and not too sweet, just the perfect amount of sweetness.”

“I.am not from Chicago but I am literally planning my next trip so I can eat at this establishment again. One of the most perfect dinners I ever head. The atmosphere is upscale but not pretentious (ask for a table in the back room, which is incredibly warm. The first room with the bar is a bit colder lighting-wise. No need to dress up but if you want to you won't be out of place). We got the bucatini polanco (perfection) and the bavette wagyu which was top three best steaks I ever had. On top of that the service was flawless. We told our server (I wish I remembered her name as she was the nicest) that we were a bit late for our after-dinner plans (also because we had to wait 25 minutes for our table, which is the only negative note but it was a Saturday night and thecrestaurant was packed so it was understandable) and asked our server if she could speed up our dishes and everything came in record time (but still giving us time to enjoy each of them). The dolce de leche tiramisu is a must.”

“We went here for our anniversary this year! This omakase is unique compared to other ones we’ve done. There’s a mixture of hot dishes, sashimi, nigiri, and custards. All were really delicious and meticulously presented and well thought out. We also did the sake pairing which was fun and really good. On top of all that the service was phenomenal and Chef Shoji was so kind and wonderful and it was amazing to watch him work. Highly recommend!”
