Used to eat here all the time when I lived nearby. Glad to see the business is not only still here but thriving! You won't find a better dog in Chicago. Everything here is amazing.
As a continuation with eats from “Made in Chicago: Stories Behind 30 Great Hometown Bites”, my next stop was Fat Johnnies but NOT for The Mother In Law (as stated in the book) but rather the Mighty Dog. This is essentially the MIL but add a hotdog and cheese (to the tamale & chili on a bun dragged through the garden).This will be a preference to corn rolled tamales. Personally, the tamale gave it a gritter and drier taste in my mouth which is a carb redundacy with the bun....read full review

I first found out about Fat Johnnie’s from Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations. It’s a shack on the side of the road that serves the best hot dogs you’ve ever had in your life. You won’t regret making the trip. It’s phenomenal as are the people running it. The tamale’s are great too.
