Tremendously unique and conveniently quick, Saffron Street is a must-try for anyone looking for an exciting lunch option in the loop. I've had several of their 'sandwich' items, and the list keeps growing thanks to their inspired, rotating menu. The only downside is the food comes out so quickly, you only get a few moments with their kind and courteous crew!

Small curated menu with vegetarian options aplenty. The problem for us was we were there at the end of the day when a few of the items we wanted to try were sold out ?. But the server helped us get something we could eat by mixing and matching what was available. Plus we were informed that the menu changes frequently, so I will be visiting again. What we had was tasty. The sauce is made fresh in house everyday and it was delicious. Masala Fries were good. But they should consider giving more dipping sauce when ordering a full size. Paneer is freshly fried for order. Hazelnut was a nice addition to the sauce, better than the usual peanut.

Okay this is the best Indian food I had in Chicago. Very limited in variety, but sooo sooo authentic, aromatic and well done. The ghee rice combined with their makhani sauce is something I only had this good in India. More people need to try this. So far I have ordered 4 times from this place already. The rice is very well done just like home, very fresh. I think their goal is quality over quantity. You will never get this fresh rice anywhere else.

Don't listen to the first review. This place is awesome. Highly recommend the kebab meatloaf sandwich. Ambiance is beautiful with it being in the Old Post Office with an outdoor eating area facing the river and an beautiful interior. Service is great as well. One time, they made a custom order for me when they ran out of certain ingredients. Recommend!

The first time I tried their chickpea toast it was delicious! The memory of that just lingered for days. So much so that I wanted to try it again the second time. I went later in the afternoon. Unfortunately, my sandwich was doused in oil it was so greasy and the chickpeas were kind of stale and cold, which makes me think that going for lunch there later in the afternoon is not a good idea. I think overall they have an innovative menu, but they have to watch out for how the food is served. Definitely not a sandwich in a puddle of oil. And oh yeah, they make you guilt tip, a crazy practice these days for a fast food place with no table service.

We ordered Pulled Chicken and Fried Chicken Sando, it was just WOW. They make this unique Indian cuisine with a twist of modern culinary flavours. I’ll be hungry for more of this amazing food!!

Got the pulled chicken and street fried sando. Although it was delicious I couldn’t finish it because of the amount of oil. Superrrr greasy!!!

I've tried almost the entire menu and have loved everything! The flavors and spices are absolutely delicious. My favorite has to be the dal toast, it is such a good twist on classic Indian comfort food! The pulled makhani sandwich is a close second, I love the concept of chicken makhani in sandwich form. I live in the suburbs and have driven to the city to get food and then returned home to eat it, so I can attest that it travels well too. Highly recommend!

Delicious food, reasonably priced! I ordered their "one weekend only" spicy fried chicken sandwich meal which came with a side of spicy potato wedges and a pineapple crumble dessert. Everything was loaded with flavor and so spicy! They're housed in the new Humboldt Park Eatery which is home to at least 3 other takeout restaurants. The food was ready on time and employees were super kind! Great addition to Humboldt Park!
