This Starbucks is located in the basement of Macy's, so it is a great place to stop for some pre-shopping fuel. It has the same basic menu of reliable favorites. Service was fine and we received our orders quickly. The coffee and pastries were served really, really hot, which worked for me since it was a pretty chilly day. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this location. There's not a lot of seating and it is tucked away a little awkwardly in the depths of Macy's, but when you're lost in the racks and need to refuel, it works just fine.

I stopped by this place a lot because I was headed elsewhere and the baristas have customized specials that is listed on the mini chalkboard by the register when you order. I like customized drinks so depending when you go in, those drinks change daily. There is no issues with service and the drinks are always delicious. Since the location is downtown near the shopping district, the decor is much more imaginative and creative than those standard drive through locations. I imagine there used to be heavy foot traffic so assuming the clientele is more on the tourist side as there is ample seating. Average cost of customized drink is $10

Really awesome service! My sister was having trouble with her knees as we walked through the large store. So I went back up to get some water for her to take ibuprofen pain reliever. The nice door person, went in back & brought a water bottle free of charge. So NICE! Plus of course, excellent food & ambiance that you expect from the Walnut room!

I chose the Walnut Room for a late lunch with a colleague because it covers all the bases -cozy atmosphere, good menu choices with reasonable prices, and most of all excellent service from a very hospitable and attentive server. Who can beat the yummy chicken pot pie that comes with a fresh salad for $15 in an iconic cozy dining room with a great view in downtown Chicago? We were able to have a great lunch with good conversation all in the space of an hour. I have been to the Walnut Room during their busiest Christmas season with family members and have always had a great experience - even though I've never been seated next to the giant Christmas tree! Actually, there's not a bad seat in the place. Even when we had to wait awhile for our food, the atmosphere was so exciting, it was all worth the wait and the food and service was great. I call the Walnut Room "Tried and True"!

We arrived at 11:30. Our waitress did not bring our check until 12:45 and our show was starting at 1:00. We thought the service was very slow as the restaurant was not busy and we only ordered sandwiches. It was good food though just not quick.

I ordered the glazed salmon and a lemon drop AMAZING this place is definitely a go to spot especially for lunch the waiters are very nice and helpful I will definitely be back and definitely recommend this place for brunch lunch or dinner

We were seated and asked if we wanted water, then a waitress stopped by and suggested we look over the drink menu further. 30 minutes later we were still waiting for our water and the waitress to return to take our order. The poor waitress was overwhelmed and obviously having a bad night. She wandered past with a tray of drinks twice; she couldn't remember where they went, then ended up spilling one. Since we had a show to get to, we left to find another place to eat.

We had made a reservation for 4 to celebrate my wife's 62nd birthday before going to a show and it was the most horrific dining experience I could have given her. We were seated promptly and got water quickly, but after that, everything went to $hit. Our 3 initial cocktails arrived after probably a 15-20 minute wait. Our 2 soups came out about 10 minutes after that. Then, absolutely nothing. Server did not stop by to check in, so after waiting another 20 minutes, we had to flag her down, and then she was incredibly rude when we asked where the rest of our food was. Requested our check. Never came. Had to go find another employee after another 15 minutes of waiting to ask if he could help us get a bill with the 5 items we had received. He assured us that she would be right over and take care of things. 10 minutes later, she come by to tell us our food would be right up. What? We had already cancelled the rest of our meals and just wanted to pay so we could leave. She didn't say anything and just walked away. In the meantime, we observed other patrons just get up and walk out. I saw another diner go speak with the manager. When she came back to her table, I asked what she had been told and she said that they had also cancelled their meals and we're just paying for their drinks, but the waitress hadn't come back with her credit card, so the manager was supposed to be looking into that. That's when we decided to just pull together cash to pay since we didn't want to be held hostage, as what was happening with this person. I then tracked down the host who had seated us, handed him the money, explained what it was for, and said we had to leave. He asked if it was the male or female server, I said female, and he said he would get it to her. We then left - over 90 minutes since we had been seated, with no food beyond our soups ever arriving and never saw our server again. Absolutely unbelievable! Atrocious! Unacceptable! Would NOT recommend.

Food was very good but took a long time. It could have been because we ordered two of the signature pot pies, which may take longer. But usually waiters will tell you if you have ordered something that takes longer to cook and they did not.

The classic Mrs Herring's Pot Pie is only $15 and comes with a side salad. My hubby had the short rib and declared it wonderful. It's our go-to place before going to the opera.

The Walnut Room is magical.... It always has been. I took my Mom to the Walnut Room for their Valentine's Day special menu. The special menu was lovely....and the appetizers, entrees, desserts and drinks were so festive and delicious....particularly the halibut with asparagus and risotto....and the brownie and ice cream sundae with strawberry puree. The room is so elegant and the staff so very gracious. Quite simply, an absolute delight.

It's a lovely dining room with great service and a nice menu that can suit different dietary needs. There aren't many restaurants that still have a classic, elegant yet comfortable dining experience.

We always have a great meal when we come here to eat. Service, atmosphere and food are simply perfect. I would highly recommend stopping in. All though you may not need a reservation, just in case, I always make one.

Very disappointed that we couldn't order a Fields Special...the whole reason to eat there. The waiter was sympathetic but said that the chef refused. He said that usually, especially during the holidays they have it available but the first available reservation was FEB. I was Hoping for a taste of Fields only to find that MACY'S is determined to ruin what the Walnut Room meant to me and my family. It was also disappointing to see the limited number of tables available for reservations being the reason that we had to wait so long to get a reservation. Macy's is really brutal trying to eliminate all the good elements of the Fields we once knew and loved.

I had turkey club sandwich and fries it's not too bad, that's why I had to take break from cheeseburger. Turkey club sandwich and fries is best. I won't be able come back for while.until November 2024.
