The best donuts in the area! The staff is always friendly and helpful. We love their danishes and coffee cakes just as much as the donuts. I ordered 4 dozen for my son's birthday party and all were enjoyed! The only one that tends to be a bit drier for some reason is the raspberry.

I love the eclairs here! Better than any of the bakeries that I had in Europe. However, going there early pays off as the eclairs get sold off pretty quickly. I stopped there yesterday afternoon and the eclairs were already gone. Maybe making more batches of eclairs would help? - Instead, I ordered St Patrick's icing cookies and they were delicious as well. :)

I decided to come here after my work and bought my husband and kids a bread. They love the bread also if they paired it with some coffee and milk. Luckily I went home early. When I enter at the store there only few bread inside since some of it was already sold out. I bought a different flavor and kind of bread. I bought some cheese cake and chocolate cake since my kids love it. I paid it at the counter and the staff looks nice and friendly. They had a great service. When I'm at home my kids and husband are so happy seeing I bought them a bread. I also made them coffee and milk. They enjoy eating it.

I'm really confused with this place. I couldn't find one thing wrong with Cumberland Bakery until this year, more so the last 3-4 months. 1) Why are they passing off old doughnuts to customers as of late? The reason people come to a bakery, is because they are looking and paying for fresh doughnut's and pastries. I get the fact that Covid happened, but they already raised the prices. So now we are to pay more, and expect hard old doughnuts for the money? 2) They need to do a better job of letting customers know they are going on vacation, which seems to be more often than most bakeries. Customers shouldn't have to find out they are on vacation by a sign in their window, when Googling them say's they are open. But since they are selling old doughnuts now to customers, whether they are open or closed isn't important if they are basically telling customers they don't care what they are selling us. Spending my money elsewhere is becoming a no brainer. There is absolutely no logic behind selling old doughnuts to loyal customers, unless they don't care about their customers.

I went to Cumberland Bakery at 11am today for the first time. There are no displays in the front window, and many of the cases in the shop are empty. They do not have scones. I paid $3 for an eclair and tipped $1. There was no waxpaper, no napkin in the bag, and no paper tray. I tried to take the eclair out, but it was soggy, like it had been sitting in water. I couldn't take the eclair out of the bag without it falling apart. I called the bakery, and the young lady said that because of the humidity, everything at the bakery is soft. I think the issue is that there is too much custard, and they are sitting in the display case in moisture. The young lady did not offer a refund, exchange, nor express any regrets. I did not enjoy the product, nor the customer service.

I am not a big donut fan but the chocolate covered donut holes are AMAZING!! Downside is that you usually have to preorder or call ahead because they go so fast. Coffee cakes and bread selection are great. Sweet rolls can taste stale at times. I've ordered quiches and custom cakes for parties and have always been satisfied with my orders.

We always visit the bakery for morning pastries. We recently made a special order of cupcakes for our daughter's birthday and they were huge and amazing!

What the heck is going on with this bakery ?! My husband hasn't been able to get donuts In almost two weeks ! It seems they are starting to cater more to phone orders than walk in customers ! We have been coming here for almost 30 years . Well I guess nothing good ever lasts in DES PLAINES . Time to find a new bakery

His long-term establishment has many choices of Sweet delights that you can choose from. Breads are outstanding and the prices are just right. This bakery is a place you must put on your list to try and when you do it will be a regular for you. Enjoy

I visited the bakery often when I worked in Des Plaines. Recently I ordered a cake for a retirement party. It was beautiful. Everyone thought it was the most delicious cake they ever enjoyed. It was 5 stars.
