“It was uncomfortably loud in the room behind the bar. But the bar area was even louder. I asked the ser we if I could have the fried fish baked. She said that she didn't think so, but she would ask. So I ordered a salad. She brought the salad and the food for the other three at the table. We are. When we were just about finished she brought two very small baked pieces of fish. Hhhhhmmm. I did eat them. They were OK. We have been there before. Not super impressed. I can recommend the fried haddock. It is good.”

The tank was super loose and was leaking a little. I tightened the bolts. ...idk what's wrong with me, but I just can't let that easy repair go. I showed the bar tender what I did so he could inform the owner to tighten them better. Anywho, over all, it's a cool spot.”

“I have no complaints regarding the food. We order from this location almost every week and have never had an issue. Today, when I walked in, the restaurant was extremely busy due to the Wild Card game, and the atmosphere was understandably tense. The kitchen staff appeared focused and working hard to get orders out.

During this time, a woman who came from the back to assist with phone orders and customer service did not appear to be wearing a name badge, and it was unclear whether she was an owner or an employee. Regardless of her role, the way she conducted herself was very unprofessional and made the situation uncomfortable for customers.

There was an apparent mistake involving an order that had been handed out incorrectly. One of the assistant managers, who was clearly working hard in the kitchen, was confronted and loudly blamed for the error. He calmly stated that both parties should have verified the order, yet she continued yelling and placed all the blame on him. This exchange took place in front of staff and customers, which was inappropriate and unacceptable.

If a mistake occurs, it should be addressed privately and respectfully. Yelling at an employee in front of others serves no purpose and shows a lack of professionalism and basic human decency.

To Tomas, the assistant manager: we are all human, and mistakes can happen, especially in high-pressure situations. No one deserves to be treated the way you were. You were clearly working hard, and I commend you for standing your ground. I hope this behavior is reported and addressed appropriately.

This incident made me very uncomfortable, and I truly hope steps are taken to ensure staff are treated with respect moving forward.”

Beyond the food, Beau and her husband are some of the friendliest, most welcoming hosts you'll ever meet. The atmosphere is incredibly calm, relaxing, and inviting. If you're looking for authentic, fresh Latin cuisine with wonderful service, this is a must-visit. We will absolutely be back!”

Chicken was crispy and tender inside. Breading was a little peppery as a plain sandwich, but the garlic Parmesan sauce paired wonderfully!!
Bun was good, but nothing special. Good flavor, but a little flat.
Good “potato-tasting” fries encouraged a little better score.

Overall, it’s a takeout place. So people constantly going in and out. Took a little away from the atmosphere, but clean overall. The food was all made to order-so it takes 10 minutes if you order at the counter.”

“Its the 4am spot. When all the other bars close this place gets packed. Personally i bring cash. A Modelo is about $9. The music is regeton, Puerto Rican and Mexican. It is a small place but ive had fun a few times.”

“Found myself way down Randall Road and in the mood for pollo rostizado but given that it was close to 8pm I knew the likelihood of that happening was very low if I headed back home so I did a quick search and found that Elgin had their own (original?) Casa del Pollo Asado that stays open until 9pm. I took that as a good sign and headed that way. The restaurant is pretty big with a good amount of tables and booths. It’s counter service with self-serve fountain drinks and salsas. They also have beer for sale.

I originally was just going to order an 8 pc of only chicken but since I had driven out I decided to make it worth my while and get the 12 pc meal. They were unfortunately out of corn as a side so I got mashed potatoes and beans. They have big TVs in one section of the dining area and a World Cup match was on. My order was ready in about 5 minutes and I’m happy to say that the roasted chicken was still steaming hot and delicious when I got it all the way back home. The salsas are all very good although I didn’t get any pico de gallo because it looked pretty soggy. The beans are good and the fries are fine but the mashed potatoes and gravy could use some revamping. Also, I felt like I we didn’t get very many grilled onions or chiles with our order. Those things in combination with the slightly high price is what make me not so confident I’ll make the trek back to this Casa del Pollo Asado soon.”
