“Bluegrass Restaurant is a wonderful, family-owned restaurant. We have been ordering takeout and eating in since we came to Highland Park three years ago. The owners take pride in managing the restaurant on a daily basis. They prioritize customer service, great food, and a warm, welcoming experience. Last night, they hosted the Highland Park/Highwood Professional Moms group. We had only expected 15 women to attend, but 25 women ended up coming. The owners and the staff were AMAZING. They brought over additional chairs. They provided us with top-notch service, including separate checks. They respected us when we were speaking to the group and quietly took orders in the background. I can't say enough nice things about this restaurant.”

“We came here for dinner tonight and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience! The best way to describe our meal is “elevated comfort food!” Everything we ordered, came out beautifully plated, very quick service, even with a full house, and very attentive staff. We ordered the spiced carrots, naan, brisket, and pork belly. All of them were delicious, and my favorite by far was the pork belly, perfectly seared and paired with an excellent sauce. The berry spritzer cocktail was refreshing and not too sweet, dessert was just right, overall fantastic experience. We will definitely come back!”

“How crazy is this. Going to Sunset Foods I saw this sign in the window of a storefront to the West. Fortunately I found BRIGHT BOWLS owned and operated by a Highland Parker named Lindsay. I can’t describe the ambiance and wonderful products. You need to experience on your own. My favorite so far is the LoveABowl. Enjoy on site or to go. Get Bright Butter, Bright Granola and Bright Smiles. Tell the staff Larry sent you. Hmmmm”

“Hooray for local coffee shops and businesses. Astra is a wonderful coffee shop in the heart of the Ravinia District that always has a handful of neighbors out front during the warmer months. It’s also a great place to bring your laptop and to get some work done.”

“Got a barbacoa burrito to go, that thing WAS stuffed with meat. I say was in all caps because that burrito was not long for this world and has found a new home in my stomach. Last meal level burrito that came with enough meat in it for you to cry at the idea you ever considered going to any of those other half-butt “burrito” restaurants. Not to mention the cashier warned me about the burrito being a little messy?? Absolutely not. The tortilla held strong against my vicious attacks to. the. last. bite. Amazing food awesome service. “I can't believe we have such a great steakhouse in Highland Park now. We were there as a group of 6 that ordered steaks, burgers and veggie sides and the chef nailed it all. The skirt steak was incredible. Probably the best I had. My friends were very happy with their filets. The potato was creamy and super tasty as well, along with the asparagus. The prices are downtown prices and I think it was worth it. I would definitely go back soon”

“This is a takeout and catering business in Highland Park. The fried chicken, cornbread, cole slaw and corn bread were all very good. The baked beans are the best baked beans I have ever had! They are to die for! Portions are extremely generous. They do good southern food right! Chef Kenny is amazing!”

I live downtown and have visited his restaurants in Chinatown and Michigan Ave. The food is exception each and every time I go to either location. When the "coming soon" sign popped up in Highland Park, I could not have been more thrilled, considering the food at our local chinese restaurants refuse to raise the bar on their food. There is no better Szechuan restaurant in the Chicago area or beyond. The food, the staff, and the service are all exceptional and executed with perfection and passion. This has been the most anticipated opening on the northshore for a reason. Lao is simply unbeatable. I love it love it LOVE IT!!!!!”
