Always a must stop on my way to or from the Brookfield Zoo. I don't live in the area any more, but when I visit I always try to hit up Mr. Submarine. I don't know what it is, because at face value the ingredients are just OK. But when you get that shredded lettuce soaked with vinegar and oregano, and the not quite sure what kind of cheese it is, mixed with a true sub roll and solid deli meat. It's a beautiful thing. The hot pastrami was almost all fat, they put a vinegar/oil dressing on it with mustard & the bread wasn't toasted. The sandwich was heated up in a microwave and wasn't what I expected.The fried mushrooms were good, but they would have been better with a horseradish dipping sauce.
