“It's a bit of an older place, just vibes-wise, but it just means the food there is amazing since the chefs are so familiar with every dish they make. The waiters and waitresses, despite not speaking English as a native language, are all so kind and considerate as well! I highly recommend the Hainan chicken rice and the Vietnamese iced coffee. Also, the pricing is insanely good for the quality of food. Looking forward to going again!“

I was in Illinois for business and a coworker suggested China Style and it was delicious! The nice woman at the counter had them make BBQ Pork Fried Rice for me, to go with an order of BBQ Pork and it was all very good! The prices were standard for what Chinese food costs these days. It was so good. I came back 2 days later for more of the rice and had the Chicken with Broccoli and it was very good as well! The menu with varieties and many Asian popularities dishes. Think this may be comparable from south Canal street China Town and the best one in the north shore neighborhood.

“Road tripping and looking for vegan food. This place has options. If you are staying by the Comfort Inn and Suites Chicago airport then take a 2minute walk over here to eat. Great food, friendly staff and reasonable prices.

“For me, this is THE best Korean-Chinese spot in Chicago. Sure, there are places like Yu's Mandarin, Chef Ping, Great Sea, Great Beijing, etc but they don't focus only on Korean-chinese food like Lai Lai do, hence in my opinion, Lai Lai serves the best Jajangmyeon and Jjambbong.

Now, Jajangmyeon comes in many varieties, but most people aren't aware of the differences:

Regular Jajangmyeon: All ingredients are stir-fried, then water and starch are added, resulting in a familiar starchy texture with added sugar or salt.

Gan Jajang: Cooked with just oil, it tends to be more oily and has a stronger "fire" taste from longer stir-frying, often more salty.

Uni Jajang: Ingredients are minced, so the dish lacks visible ingredient shapes and texture but brings out most flavor.

Sam seon Jajang (precious ingredients from sky, land, and sea): Originally with expensive items like shrimp, abalone, and pork, now often substituted with squid and cheaper ingredients.

Tray Jajang: Essentially +2 portions of Sam seon Jajang without the expensive ingredients.

I mention this because in Chicago, there are very few places offering these varieties, and even fewer doing it well. No one specializes in it quite like Korea, and the closest I've found to matching Korean taste is regular Jajangmyeon from Lai Lai.

I can also go on about Jjambbong and the chicken as you see on the picture but perhaps on another review...“

“Love ... love ... love ... this gem of a local restaurant. Just changed my favorite dish from Beef and Broccoli to Lucky 7. Always order Egg Rolls and Hong Kong Fried Rice.“

“The garlic beef was delicious. I loved everything we ordered. Fried rice, chicken broccoli, sweet and sour chicken and my absolute favorite garlic beef. Prices are excellent and portions are ample. You could eat in the restaurant but that’s not what this place is all about. It’s a to-go place. They only take cash which is fine by me.

“I grew up in Brunei and their food is the closest i have felt to home. I ordered the Nasi Lemak, kuih lapis and roti paratha.“

“My Mom and I were looking for a new (new to us) Chinese-American restaurant. Palace Cantonese surpassed all expectations. Every plate we had was delicious and food was hot. The service by Calvin was outstanding.

We entered the restaurant and were the only ones during this late lunch time. We sat in the comfortable and cozy booth (firm for what my back needs). Right away, Calvin brought delicious hot tea and water. The Fried Won Ton, which is hard to find without meat, was perfectly fried, not soggy. The cup of egg drop soup was a generous portion, more like a medium bowl. The veggie egg rolls were large and tasty. The Chicken Szechuan, was like a kung pao chicken and very flavorful. I loved the touch from Calvin bringing extra peanuts without us asking. He also asked if we needed more tea even though our steel carafe was half full. At similar restaurants, I’ve not seen that service.
The final touch was receiving 2 almond cookies (plus fortune cookies), which my Mom and I love.
It’s my new favorite restaurant which I will be patronizing every time I’m in Chicago.

“It’s a great go-to place where I often pick up on Tuesday nights. The food is ready 10 to 15 minutes after I order it over the phone. The lady who takes the order and gives me the food to-go is unfailingly pleasant and always smiles. We love their Mongolian beef, and enjoy their egg rolls, hot & sour soup and wonton soup. Never a bad meal. All delicious with generous portions and a fair price.“

“Whenever I try a new old style chinese restaurant, I get shrimp with lobster sauce and bbq pork something, like bbq pork fried rice or vegetables, etc.

Shrimp with lobster sauce is a very nostalgic food for me. It was something I tried 15~ish years ago from this small chinese restaurant near work. It was $5.45 lunch specials at the time, and I wanted to try something other than monglian beef, generals Tsao chicken etc.
And i fell in love ever since.

I love brown starch sauce that is made with, and it needs to have black beans and stripes of pork and egg. But some restaurants tend to make this with white sauce with pea and ground pork, or just not enough salt or msg.

Well, this place make it perfectly how I wanted, and less than 9 bucks. You can't beat this deal.
The only thing to critize is that chicken fried rice was not good...it was dry and maybe a day old.

Bbq pork was also really good, cut thick the way I also like it. You can taste rice oyster sauce, and vegetables were cooked well.

It definitely reminded me of the old spot that I loved and will be coming back to try more dishes.“

“I had the orange chicken and crab Rangoon. It isn't your typical Chinese takeout. When you walk in you may think so, but the food is definitely above the normal Chinese takeout. It was crispy and the sauce was great. The crab rangoon were huge and had a lot of filling. I will be back for sure.“

“I have been ordering from Leus for 15 years now. I realized today that I have never reviewed and wow, do they deserve it. The owners are the absolute sweetest and most gracious couple. Their selection- from their orange chicken, chicken sticks, to their sushi rolls, to my favorite staple of fried rice and egg rolls, ALL of it is unmatched. Seriously, I could eat just their egg rolls and be thrilled. I order from them every single time I am in the area. They are the only place I have no doubt whatever I try, it will be super tasty and be made with love.

Sometimes waits are longer, so it’s good to order ahead — but believe me, be patient, they are worth it!!!“
