“There is nothing not to like about this family owned restaurant. The owners make you feel like family. The food is delicious, as close to homemade as possible. They give you a good portion size so we always have leftovers. For the amount of food given, their prices are very resonable and we usually have leftovers. We have been catering our parties since moving to Vernon Hills in 2012. And to be honest, we order very frequently, on those days nobody wants to cook. A great place by far!“

“This is an absolute hidden gem of Mundelein!!! Everything is seasoned so well, delicious food, priced fairly, great service. We have tried so many Mexican restaurants all over town and this is hands down the best. We’ve eaten here lots of times- the tacos are always amazing, tortas, burritos too. “The food was delicious. We had a variety of dishes at our table. Chicken Cordon Bleu, tenderloin, escargot, asparagus soup, beef bourguinion, scallops and shrimp on risotto. All of it excellent. Even the bread was outstanding. Our server (I think the owner) was lovely. Helpful and efficient and knew the dishes intimately. We’ll be back!“

“I recently went here with my family after a colleague of mine, recommended it. The first course that we had was calamari, and they were much larger pieces than I'm accustomed to, and the breading was a little bit soggy however, the second appetizer we ordered was clams, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The rest of our meals were outstanding, and we will definitely be coming back on a sidenote from a service perspective I came with my wife and three children, one of which is eight months old. The hostess or manager offered for us to sit in a private room for the door that closes as there was some music in the background. Exceptional food, exceptional service, and exceptional people.!“

Marinated very well and tasted great with the salad/veggies that they made! The side dishes tasted amazing and they kept refilling!The service was also incredible. “I stopped by for the first time at this little shop for a quick bite. Got myself my usual favorite choice, steak burrito. Turns out this shop is a must have! Food so good, felt like it was imported straight from Mexico, no layovers. It was soooo good. It's been over a week and I still think of this little shop.“

My go-to dish are the Chilaquiles, Although somewhat spicy having ordered a side of white toast really complement eachother. Not much can be said about the service, As soon as I arrived I was cordially escorted to my seat and the waitress was very nice and attentive. Will recommend this place to anyone looking for a homecook meal. “It did not disappoint I had high expectations because of all the good reviews. Excellent pizza and bar service. I had the pleasure of running into one of the cooks. Big guy with brown hair. I did not catch his name but he seemed like a great guy and whipped up some delicious food faster than I could drink a single beer. He really made me feel like I was in a comfortable family style environment where I could put a smiling face to the delicious food. My girlfriend put in a complicated custom order and he did not flinch or get a single thing wrong. If that guy is not a partner in the restaurant and then he needs to be paid well because it seemed as though his heart was in it, so the love comes out in the food.Dietary restrictions: My girlfriend is very picky and wanted her toppings put on in a very particular order. Most places usually botch her orders but this guy nailed it and was a gentlemanly good sport about it even though she is a tough customer.“

“El Barrio has been around longer than I have been alive. A family run restaurant that serves authentic and delicious Mexican food. The staff is experienced and friendly. Prices are reasonable and there is always room in the dining area. This is a gem of an establishment in the heart of a residential area. Their guacamole is some of the best around. Go and you will feel as if you are sitting in a barrio.“

“The best egg rolls in the Chicagoland area. I get around for good Chinese and can say a great egg roll is hard to find, but look no further! I usually get an order of BBQ pork and an order of egg rolls. The BBQ pork when it's good, it's great, but when it's not... Sometimes it's really tough/chewy...The rest of the food is great, and portions are great for the price.Unfortunately since covid, they are carry out only.“
