I would give the atmosphere 6 stars if I could, Photos is a Palatine classic with great grill food, classic photography lining the walls, and a lineup of shakes that will keep you coming back for more.

Its been many years since I have been to Photos, and last time was not that good and today was not any better. I'm doing low carb these days and their menu had some good options, so I thought I would give them another shot. I ordered the Italian beef bowl (no bread)with cheese and hot peppers and a fountain drink. $13 and change, not great price, but not bad either these days. Where this broke down is its supposed to come with extra meat. There was hardly enough meat to fill a basic sandwich, let alone qualify as "extra meat."Also, the beef was not very flavorful, but the real crime was, it was curled up, which means, they put cold beef in very hot beef gravy to cook it fast. This is a cardinal sin in the Chicago area and means their knowledge of Italian Beef is lacking or their process is not being followed. Either way it was bad. It makes the meat rubbery. You will never see that at the beef leaders in this town, we all know who they are. Their giardinera was good though. They put a mozzarella & cheddar mix on it, which was fine. I had just played a round of golf and was starving and this did not even come close to filling me up.So, I went back to get a cheeseburger (no bun) $8.99 I think. How bad could that be, right? It was thin and small, cooked on a flat top grill and kind of greasy. Maybe it was a quarter pound, I'm not sure. But it didn't seem like it. But the taste was bad, actually horrible, I don't think it was seasoned at all and had a strange flavor, that was off-putting.They gave me a generous side portion of lettuce and pickles, I just wanted a small amount of tomato due to the carbs, that was all great. The pickles were really great and the best part of the burger.I think at least I was full after that. I think their definition of "extra meat" and most people's, are not the same. The Coke Zero out of the fountain was actually very good, perfect mixture. That is many times, not the case.Italian Beef, Cheeseburger, fountain drink, $24 all in. Frustration - free.?Response to manager comment:You advertise it right on your menu board in the restaurant. See picture.

I know things change but this place has really changed. We use to go get the buy one pita get one free. But they have done away with that a long time now. Decided to go back because I really enjoyed the chicken pita. Well the pita is still the same size but with much less chicken in it and the chicken wasn't as juicy. Still very pricy and You only get one. Almost $11 for a chicken pita.

Was here for a school fundraiser. Service was slow, food was ok.It's a nice idea to give free little ice cream cones to their customers.

I mean, it's a staple hotdog place of Palatine. Good food, good service, the inside has a fun atmosphere with all the cameras and photos everywhere. They have fun seasonal items as well. It's just a good hometown hotdog joint!

There is a lot of hate on here for Photo's, and it is understandable. This is a unique place that does business a little differently than other places. Once you understand how everything works, you start to like it a lot more. First off, the food. The food here is pretty good. I really like their grilled chicken, it has a ton of flavor, and when you get it on a pita, for instance, they don't skimp on the amount of chicken. Burgers are good, hotdogs are great, especially considering they don't use Vienna Beef. Was very impressed by the hotdog. Food here is a solid 7/10. Interior is quite nice, lots of photos to look at, very eclectic, nice and clean. Free ice cream (with purchase) is also available inside. Drive thru here is pretty quick, a nice bonus. Now let's get to what a lot of people take issue with, the price. Photo's is overpriced if you just order off the menu, and I think this is by design. Some people don't care. To some, it's not too much. And Photo's wants them to pay full price. For everyone else, you need to take advantage of Photo's deals. They frequently have all kinds of promotions. For example, with every order, they give you a card for a free hotdog with purchase. This means you get a free hotdog on every return visit as they will keep giving you the card each time. There are many signs around mentioning their promos. You can also ask the employees (which seem to be friendly in my experience) what promos they have currently. There are some that are not advertised. As long as you know this, you can eat here regularly for a very reasonable price. All in all, if you are price conscious (like me), ask the employee what promos they have, and bring your free hotdog card with. Glad to have it near one of my frequent routes.

The burgers here are unique and I've yet to taste another like it. The food is good, but to get your monies worth, just go inside, it's an epic sight.

I just ate the cheapest version of greek salad I ever ate! They even add yellow onion instead of red one. It was definitely not worth the money. My son had chili dog and he kind of liked it. It’s used to be many people, however, I don’t see it anymore. Not surprised, the food isn’t good as used to be…

Ok food, prices a little high. But on my last visit had a drunk hanging in the lot yelling, trying to bum a light with a bunch of kids around. Just not worth it.
