One of the best Middle Eastern dessert places hands down. Everything tastes exceptional and the owner radiates the feeling of hospitality. You will not go wrong with whichever dessert you choose. The interior reminds you of Syrian tv show interior designs. Highly recommend.
Al sham has an amazing selection of middle eastern pastries. I got the chocolate baklava and the pistachio ice cream and both were fantastic. The owner told me how the ice cream was made with organic milk and the baklava is made with hand made phyllo dough. He goes into great detail about how every item is prepared and is very welcoming!

We were very impressed with the quality! Green Turkish pistachios galore.. So glad to see fresh kanafa. The very kind owner allowed us to sample the halawet el jibn-- which was amazing, sooo creamy! Just the right amount of sweetness. Our new dessert destination! We will be back! Can't wait to try the ice cream. (:

Outstanding baklava, attention to detail and ingredients. Phyllo (ajeen) dough is made inhouse and real ghee is used to make these delights.You get the best money can buy in the Chicagoland area. Saying this as someone who daily ate baklava in Turkiye, Lebanon, and Palestine over 6 weeks of travel.My tastebuds remembered well the taste of quality and experience.

I had a craving for knafeh and saw that Al Sham Sweets sold it so I popped in. The owner was very kind and all of the sweets in the case looked delicious. The knafeh was so good - the best I’ve had outside of the Middle East!

He took great pride in explaining that they still make the phyllo dough by hand and they import the pistachios from turkey. He explained how everything was priced quite clearly and was happy to let us take our time deciding.We bought several little sweets and all were clearly made expertly with high equality ingredients.

This is by far the best baklava and other sweets in the whole Chicago area! I am a pastry chef and a chocolatier, and I can tell when the quality ingredients are used. They make a huge difference!
