I had the country skillet, and it was good, but I am not a fan of sliced up sausage in my gravy. I prefer crumbled sausage. Sadly, the coffee was weak as it is in most restaurants. Boyfriend had the biscuits and gravy with hashbrown casserole. His biscuits were very flat but good.“

“I stopped in today by chance, I was hungry and have passed this place several times over the years. This place was amazing. I had a cheeseburger which was delicious. My girlfriend had the Nashville chicken Flatbread which was also delicious. We also had the wonton cheese sticks, they were awesome. “Stop here a couple times a month. This is 100% dive bar. Overall it’s pretty worn down but kept pretty clean. The locals are friendly and typically interact with others. Food is pretty good and they have daily specials. There seems to be enough parking at least during the day. Bar tenders are friendly and do a good job with the service. Pool table, darts and gambling machines. A few tvs are typically playing some sports.“

“Happened to be in Antioch with my daughter and stopped in The Lodge for a late lunch. I had one of the best, if not the best chicken wrap with fries. It was wrapped, then heated on the outside, delicious. My daughter had a grilled cheese with tomato with onion rings, she loved it. We were too full to eat desert, but we took a piece of homemade tiramiso with. It was a slice of heaven. Great service and wonderful food“
“Bassett Creek Saloon is a hidden gem! The service is phenomenal and so was the atmosphere! Everyone from the staff to the patrons were incredibly nice and gave several recommendations of what to try.We started off with fried portobello mushroom slices which were amazing. For our meal, we had smoked pulled pork sandwiches with a side of potato salad, and a side of the smoked chicken pasta salad. Everything is homemade down to the bbq sauce, and was super delicious. The sandwiches were extremely generous, and the meat melted in your mouth like butter on a stack of flapjacks. The smoked chicken pasta salad was super flavorful, and had the perfect blend of smoky, creamy, and seasonings, and no shortage of smoked chicken. The potato salad was rich and creamy and one of the best I've had in a while. One of the patrons asked which we liked more between the potato salad and the smoked chicken pasta salad and we couldn't decide because both were phenomenal. As someone who normally passes on coleslaw I can honestly say I ate it all and almost ordered a second cup. Even the pickle was crunchy down to the last bite.There wasn't a bad bite in the entire meal. We definitely will be coming back next time on a Saturday for their ribs and to see a duck race! Couldn't be happier to have found this spot!!! Amazing food and amazing service at an extremely fair price, what more could you ask for?“

“I had never been here but heard good things about the place. Finally got to try it a couple weeks ago. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. The food was fantastic! I had a couple small concerns with the service, but as I said it was my first time here so I don't know what their normal is. The waitress was very attentive to start and quite friendly. After the food was delivered, she didn't stop by much. She did check once but later would have been nice for additional napkins or another drink but she didn't come around. Not sure if she was letting us enjoy our food or wasn't paying attention to us. The other concern I had is becoming more common everywhere BUT it would have been nice to be warned that there was an extra fee for using a credit card. It wasn't a ridiculous amount but it would have been nice to be told when I handed over my credit card because I could have used cash instead. Overall, a good experience and the menu has more items that sound pretty good! Might need to try it again!“

The bartender was very personable and the owner was the sweetest. Food was excellent! My boyfriend got the reuben which he loved! Thick sandwich with REAL meat (not lunch meat slices!) The person who took our order was really nice and professional as always! I ordered the 1/2 slab of ribs it came with a side salad, a 6" piece of corn on the cob, and fries which I upgraded to the baked potato for $1 more. The baked potato was quartered and a huge potion size so definitely worth the extra $1. The 1/2 slab of ribs had about 7 bones... so you got a decent amount! My husband ordered the Italian beef and added Provolone cheese for 65 cents which was well worth it! I posted a video for each of our food items. We loved our food and would definitely order it again!“
“Mr. Submarine is so much better than some of the other competitors out there. Specifically that one team with the green and yellow colors. Their bread is second best to my favorite red and black team, and the service is a little more helpful. I have heard that other locations can vary in quality, but when my local Polish deli has closed, I come here for a decent sandwich. The employees are always patient with you and make sure you're comfortable with your decision on toppings before they actually place them on your sandwich. I definitely feel like their vegetables are fresh, and the meat is tasty, but not top quality. Again, I am comparing a chain to Euro-style sandwiches. I'm not expecting top tier, but I am definitely happy with the sandwich I get, which is always the Mr. Sub. This location is hidden in a Mobil gas station, which I would have never found had I not searched for places to eat in Fox Lake. I barely know the area, having moved here from Chicago. Definitely check them out. What's also cool is that if there are other incidentals that you need from the gas station shop, it's there for you to purchase along with your sandwich. Love it!“
