My first time in was last September for a friend’s birthday- ordered the Spanish style bruschetta and it was good, but not very filling. My second time in was last week. We shared the yucca fries with cheese as an appetizer. These were delicious and I preferred them to the steak fries that came with my meal. The spicy blackberry margarita is a fan-fave here for a good reason. This time around I tried the Sandwich de Chola and was not disappointed! Service was great both times. Can’t wait to come back and try something new

The tostones sampler was absolutely awful. They were dry and hard as a rock. We ordered our food to go and it was three tostones with all of the ingredients piled together. No separation and beyond salty. Disappointing because the rest of the order looked appetizing.

A couple months ago my wife and I were in Springfield, IL and, just by chance, found Roots Latin Grill. I had the Lomo Saltado for dinner, and it was delicious! We were back in Springfield recently and had lunch at Roots. We had two cheese Tostones and a beef Tostone for starters. The cheese Tostones were very good, but the beef Tostone was great! For our main courses, we had Pincho (marinated steak, fantastic seasoning, stuck on a skewer, and grilled) and Camarones al Ajillo (garlic shrimp). Both items were very flavorful and delicious! The servings were generous and ample. Service was excellent.Lunchtime was not crowded, and we were seated right away. On the other hand, the place fills up for dinner. Get there early for dinner or make a reservation. The food is excellent, flavorful, and well prepared. We'll be back in Springfield and will definitely head to Roots for a meal. Highly recommended with two thumbs up!!!

Good food, nice servers. Can get pretty loud and the bench with some of the tables is pretty low/ uncomfortable. Otherwise a good experience.

We tried pork mofongo, tostones, empanadas and the fried cheese. It was all very tasty and enjoyable! Also the bits of info about the different dishes on the menu was such a cool addition!Kid-friendliness: There was a small play area for kids with a play kitchen, a few books and toys, a doll house and a little table with chairs!

My husband who is Latino from NYC just wants to know. where's the rice and beans?
Lots of vegan options! My favorites were the Mofongo and the tofu arepa. Both are 10/10. Everything else was also delicious. The service was quick and very outstanding overall.Vegetarian options: They have multiple options. I’ve tried most of them, and they’re all great. My favorite though, was the mofongo.Dietary restrictions: Lots of vegan options

I’ve tried this place 4 different times and I just can’t go again. I wanted to like this place cause all the reviews were good but I just don’t care for it. The service is not good. The waiter never checks on you after you get your food and then takes forever to get the bill. The restaurant is also small and I don’t see the waiter at other tables, they just disappear. I don’t think the food is very flavorful. It’s edible but I expected more from the food. Very disappointing. I’ll stick to the taqueria places, that’s flavorful food.

My dudes everything is so good here. We drive 1.5 hours to come here because I dream about this food. Tostones are my favorite. The pincho platter is good too. And the yucca fries are oddly addicting. You take a bite of those fries not thinking anything special and then you’re selling your house for more.Dietary restrictions: Gluten friendly options
