“We were on the last leg of a cross-country trip from San Francisco to Michigan and hungry made itself known. We made a flying drive-thru tour of UI-UC and ordered pizza and empanadas from Manolo’s on the way into town. While zooming down I-57, we noshed on a cheese and chicken pizza as well as three empanada varieties: inferno chicken, jalapeño chicken, and potato and cheddar. Everything was awesome! I especially appreciated the pizza crust: thin, pliable, chewy, flavorful but not too salty. The one-man show running the operation during our quick stop on 12/29/21 even took time to use a clean cutter on the pizza so the PN/TN allergic diner could enjoy the feast. Is a desire to try the rest of the empanadas a valid reason for the offspring to attend UI-UC? Maybe it validates a return, daytime visit.“
“OK, I haven't been to Monicals in a while, however, the thin crust pizza was excellent. The thin crust sorta reminds you of the quick brick oven pizzas, thin, light and crispy...very good. The place was clean and our waitress was patient, nice and she took care of us. I went right after shopping nearby, when we arrived barely anyone inside, but, by the time we left, filling up quickly. I know it is a chain, but, definitely good pizza.“
“First time and it was so much better than expected!! Great service, Food came out fast and hot and tasted AMAZING !!! 10 OUT 10 RECOMMEND!! We ordered the BBQ grilled cheese with fries and added onions and mushrooms to my sandwich and it was some of the best BBQ sauce I have ever had!! Their cheese sticks are amazing too!!!“
“I'm Italian-American, born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, so I'm very picky about restaurant Italian food. Rosati's makes some good food. I enjoyed their calzone and the meatball sub. The meatballs surprised me, being quite tasty. Also had the pistachio cannoli. Excellent. I'd have any of these items again. What disappointed me was the zeppole. Nothing like the zeppole I carried around in a brown paper bag at the San Gennaro Feasts in Little Italy. Half of them were much too chewy, displeasingly chewy. The other half were hollow. Squeeze them and your finger made a hole into it with nothing there. Oh, there were plenty of them which excited me -- until I tried eating them. Sadly, most were trashed.Also off-putting was the $6.00 delivery charge.“
“I have been a customer since they opened! Was blown away with the amazing selections and bold unique flavors. Coming from Chicago I wasn’t able to find any sandwich shops like what I was use to. Once these folks opened up shop they brought to the table what this area needed! Great quality sandwiches backed by great quality service! I have tried just about everything on their menu and I have never been disappointed. They truly have a passion and you can see and taste that in their product! That’s hard to find now days. So if your looking for something new and want to experience great food, don’t hesitate to give them a try!“
