“Walker Bro's was closed so on a whim, I changed the cuisine to Greek and was recommended Taverna Naxos; a hop, skip and a jump away. Walked in blind to any expectations and immediately was stunned by the ambiance, esthetics and cleanliness of the restaurant! I was the only patron and confused if they were even open. Michael, assured me that they were and gave me carte blanche on seating. The chef personally handed me a plate of bread and hummus and the flavor profile knocked my world off balance! When the Tzatziki & Kedfeh (Greek meatballs) arrived, my world stopped spinning in orbit. Each ingredient tasted as if it was hand selected earlier in the day!

The bathrooms were immaculate. The menu & specials looked as if they had just been taken out for their maiden voyage! This has got to be a date night hot spot, if it's not, do it!

I'm curious if they bring the ruckus under pressure of a full house but by look of it, they mean serious Greek business! Thank you, Michael, Head Chef & Taverna Naxos staff for altering my mood with the experience!”

“Hubs and I came last night for an impromptu date night. The holiday décor was absolutely beautiful, you can tell a lot of effort and attention went into it. The staff were all super friendly and helpful! We arrived during the dinner rush, and given it’s the holiday season, I’m sure there’s an uptick in guests, but we were still seated within about 15–20 minutes, which was impressive. There is a one-hour dining limit during this season, I understand they’re turning tables quickly to accommodate everyone, especially having worked in the industry myself. However, I was really disappointed that every single item we ordered was cold. I don’t usually like to complain, so I didn’t mention it at the time, assuming it was just due to how busy the restaurant was. But after reading other reviews, it seems this may be a recurring issue, which is unfortunate. I’m not sure I would return, but on a positive note, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were wonderful. Hopefully they can work with the kitchen to make sure the food is served hot, because everything else about the experience was great!”

“#1 Sushi place for me. SO FRESH and delicious 😋. The quality here is top notch, from the to-go sushi in the fridge to the specialized sushi you can order at the counter. I especially loved the hand rolls because they were huge and so fresh. There are so many options for specialty rolls, maki, poke, and vegetarian options as well. I also tried the mochi for dessert and it was so good. Whenever I crave quick sushi I think of this place. Such a great place in the north shore for easy sushi for reasonable price and amazing taste! 🍣🍨🍙 Just from the pictures you can tell this quality is superb.”

“My family and I got several bowls from Koya. We loved all of the customizable toppings it offers as well as the complimentary miso soups and cookies that come with the bowls. The ingredients were fresh, and portions were pretty large. The food was very reasonably priced.”

Getting in and out of the restaurant can be tricky and there is limited parking behind the restaurant.”

Not only do they keep their food fresh and delicious. They also have the most experienced workers I’ve ever seen, working here for over 2 decades each and every one of them. Making sure everyone gets the proper preparations for their food. Would 100% recommend anyone who is either visiting Chicago, or hasn’t tried this place. “Joseph values taste. Joseph values ingredients. Joseph values quality. (Quit talking in third person, Joseph! My wife says this ALL the time ?) Now how does "The Porch" shape up? Well you see, as for my three top values, they succeed in only one.
Now before diving into this food critique... might I add that this is in a furniture store. A FURNITURE STORE! So before Joseph gets all critical on ya (?)... bear in mind, people... the standard is low! So as a whole, I am thoroughly impressed.
However! I ordered the Turkey sandwich of sorts. The wife got grilled cheese. The daughter got a ceaser salad. The wife is currently in an argument with me (one sided, might I stress ?. Don't let her see this!!!), so she didn't let me have a bite of the grilled cheese. So we will ignore the fact that I could have done a detailed review for my loyal followers if only my wife was competent.
I digress!
The turkey sandwich was tasty. However, there's something about the ingredients and quality that are not up to par. It tastes like it came out of a plastic bag. Which it probably did. For goodness sakes, it a furniture store!
As you may be able to tell, Joseph is pissed off today due to family matters and I'm taking it out on Google Maps. So I must give a detailed recommendation about my sandwich to the head chefs (who are probably at a factory). First of all, the bread was soggy. It was wheat bread. First mistake. To make this worth the $11, it should be on sourdough and it should be thick. Second of all, there was too much moisture. Avocado PLUS limp onions PLUS arugula? Not to mention it probably sat in a bag for a week? Disaster.
But okay, I'll admit... it's overall an 8/10 sandwich. I say that each one of you reading this should come here. And hopefully you come with a happy wife!

“Great spot. It's not just for summer! Very nice interior, comfortable and welcoming almost cozy decor. TVs are subtle so you don't feel like you're in a sports bar. Nice varied menu. Had the autumn salad with chicken - delish. Also very nice selection of wines though limited by the glass. Will be back again soon.”

“Why do you keep going back if “every time you go” there is a problem? That’s seems crazy. I believe if they make a drink incorrectly they will remake it with a smile on their face. If they don’t have an ingredient what do expect them to do? I really like this location, they are friendly and are working hard to serve you. Out of Oatmilk? Have you addressed this with management? Maybe there is a shortage, transportation issues? Seems to me you just want to complain about workers who are making you something you don’t want to make for yourself.
