The scones (best in the area) and coffee are excellent. Reel-to-reel playing great music sets a friendly tone. Not a lot of seating but I've been in twice in the last month and each time we had our pick of

Pretty good coffee beans. Scones were okay. However, the rude customer service from older gentleman was a bit surprising. The younger man was nice and seemed attentive, but I think the older man (was he the owner??) was apathetic and indifferent. A simple “Good morning” and “Thank you” would not kill you, man! Acknowledge we are there. Felt uncomfortable.

I have been getting Alchemy coffee beans delivered to my home weekly for several months and the freshness of locally roasted beans can't be beat. I grind for both drip and espresso and love the selection of single origin Alchemy offers. I haven't had a variety I didn't love. I can't recommend Alchemy enough. Local gem!

I recently visited this coffee shop, and while the coffee and bakery items were quite good, I couldn't help but feel unwelcome due to the customer service. My kid was playing on some old chair with the toys, but the owner seemed visibly stressed about it. It's essential for a neighborhood coffee shop to create a welcoming atmosphere, but this one left us feeling like outsiders amidst some ultra-privileged patrons in this neighborhood.

Cute and out of the way, located in a beautiful neighborhood perfect for a post-breakfast meander. Scones are the only food option and there are about five types. We tried cranberry and chocolate chip. Both had nice flavor but were crunchier than I'm used too. Coffee was tasty and the staff were friendly. Seems to be family run.

A friend of mine told me about Alchemy so I biked up from Evanston (no shortage of coffee shops) to check it out. Inside and out it's unpretentious, quirky and charming. Their medium roast coffee was very smooth but what knocked me out was their cranberry walnut scone. I don't profess to be a "scone guy" but on the first bite I noticed the crust was crunchy on the outside, soft and buttery on the inside. On my way back in to get one to go for my wife I noticed they had a display cooler with scone dough proofing inside. If you are a scone lover Alchemy is a must stop! (Note: The shop is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 7:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.)

One of the best coffees I've ever had and the scones are deeeelicious!!!! Definitely worth the trip if you're looking for a great cup of coffee. They sell freshly ground beans as well. Wish they were open more days during the week.
