I haven't lived in Elwood for very long. My mother wanted breakfast, but she didn't want to dine in. I didn't want fast food so I googled local restaurants. Friendly's was first on the list.I called and they could quickly prepare breakfast to go. My mother ordered pancakes with added sausage patties. I ordered a full order of biscuits and gravy.As I initially entered the restaurant, I saw several signs stating they only accepted cash, debit and credit weren't welcome. Hopped back in the van to find an ATM. Returned for our food.The lady behind the counter was talkative and friendly. They were about 1/2 full and everyone seemed to be happy and sociable. Great atmosphere.My mother enjoyed her breakfast and was filled before she could finish. I was quite disappointed with my biscuits and gravy. The gravy looked great and was a good consistency. However, it had far too much pepper. The biscuits were rather small. They tasted good but were a bit dry. I tried a few more bites of mostly biscuit with as little gravy as I could get. Still far too peppery. Inedible. Definitely not happy.Parking: The parking lot is rather small. Some spaces are placed in a way that cars have to be extremely careful not to back into other cars.

Insanely good food and absolutely worth every penny spent on it. You will not find anywhere locally or anywhere else that you can get more what you spend here. The food is to die for, especially bisquits and gravy! They are consitent with the quality and service and very cheap on top of it! Have to try it!

Always greatest as you walk in the door. Very welcoming. The food has forever been fresh and hot every time and I ve visited there many times over the last 20 years. Never had a bad meal there foods always great. Clean establishment and I appreciate they keep the bathrooms quite clean.

After seeing all the good reviews l decided to stop an try it out. Ordered the pancakes an they had this burnt smell to them. Then took a bite an even had a burnt taste to them. After two bites l couldnt stomach any more. Probably the worst pancakes l have ever had. An my dad's breaded tenderloin wasn't any better..paper thin an very greasy that he couldn't eat anymore than a couple bites either. Needless to say we won't be going back...

Another great local business here in Elwood. We take our daughter here because she loves the breakfast food, I always get the country fried steak meal, and my husband gets the wraps. Not too expensive at all.
