We decided to try King Chef on Christmas Day for dinner. (Chinese food is our traditional Christmas dinner). The restaurant was a bit understaffed, and the employees were very stressed. After about an hour wait we were seated at a table, given some water and that was it. After another 20 minutes of waiting too be acknowledged we left. Located in a strip mall on a quite busy section of 96th street, I expected a chain-ish feeling to the restaurant. I was quite surprised to find a nice, homey, casual yet somewhat upscale atmosphere. If I could describe it in two words, it would be "warm and pleasant". It was upscale enough that you knew you were going out to eat, but not so much that you felt anyone was putting on airs. This place has great food and the price is surprisingly inexpensive for the amount of food you get. The staff is friendly and the dining room is clean. I have eaten here many times and recommend it to anyone in the area
