“We thoroughly enjoyed having our wedding reception at The Emerald Green. The new event coordinator, Dani, is truly fantastic. She is very familiar with event hosting and has a solid understanding of the wedding industry. It was a pleasure to work with Dani for her reliable communication, attention to detail, and professional coordination of vendors and reception timeline. Dani respected our floor plan design so the seating arrangement was exactly what we envisioned for our wedding. There was ample seating and space for our DJ, photo booth, dessert table and a gifts table. Our guests especially loved the food and the open bar. Overall, we were pleased with the entire server staff of The Emerald Green. If you are interested in a beautiful venue to host your next event, we recommend this!”

“BABBBYYYYYYYY I finally was able to get over there to GGC to get some great awesome food & When I tell you they did not disappoint I was the first one in line to place my order, I had a pretty big order & OMG the plates are already big and I went big big back . “Visiting the area and family wanted us to try their brews as one of their favorites. Tried a flight of 10 beers and favs were Tangerine Trackstar, Toxic Words, Lucifer in a haze, Immoveable King, Nuban overlord and the top one Here comes the reaper. We also had the Pretzel and queso for snacks. They were very good and fast. They also had ice tea which is not always available at breweries. I will say the art work gave me pause and some of the names being a Christian but I don't know the background to comment.”

The quality of the coke has gone down a bit, but the patrons that frequent Home Plate are some of the finest people that you’ll ever meet. The only other bar in Hessville that was FAR SUPERIOR the Home Plate was Brothers II, and sadly that fine establishment is no longer in business! RIP RON & SUE”

There are only a 4 tables to seat and eat, and if they are full, you just have to stand and wait for your turn. Very homemade meal. “We always love the food from Cracker Barrel. This last visit was unfortunately not very good. We had to continuously ask for syrup for the pancakes and then when they brought them, they brought the wrong kind as we needed sugar-free by the time they did get it to us pancakes were a little bit better than lukewarm. The eggs were not cooked the way we had asked. The service was very slow and although all this sounds bad, we will of course be going back because most of the time it’s good service and good food. We were at the Cracker Barrel in Merrillville, Indiana.”

I think he could tell I was a little nervous about ordering so he went through the entire menu with me, ranking each sub from his favorite to least favorite. Then he told me all of the different variations they can do...I was astounded 😳! I was ordering for my 3 kids and wasn't sure what subs to order them. Brayden asked me about each kid and then suggested which subs they'd like based on their personalities. Well....he was right!!!! My kids LOVED what he picked out for them. While I was getting ready to pay he asked if I wanted chips and a drink. I said I wasn't sure so he suggested which chips and drinks would pair well with each sandwich!!! He was right again! To say I was impressed would be an understatement.”

Basically a 4 course meal for most of its menu options, the generous portions will leave the majority of us full, satisfied, and in need of a to-go box.

The atmosphere is typical of a diner style and the prices are exceptionally reasonable. Can't speak for all, but MY server was so great that I tipped her about 50%.
